I just got a Gonbes 8200 video converter as well as a GGLabs RGBI to RGBA adapter.
I'm currently using my 1084S with my Tandy 1000HX for video, but I want to preserve my 1084S (and have other machines I want to use it with) so I got the video adapter to use the Tandy with one of my 4:3 VGA LCDs.

The problem I have is that it appears to take 5v via a barrel jack.

Does anyone have any experience with using Gonbes 8200 adapter for CGA -> VGA? Can I power it via the VGA connection, or does anyone know where I can find an appropriate power adapter?

no you cannot power it from VGA, you can use any POSITIVE CENTER barrel jack power adapter that fits and outputs 5-12VDC
