Greetings,

I am installing both an AWE32 (For DOS and WFW) and a SB Live! (Windows 9x) in my Pentium III rig (The Ultimate DOS-WFW-Win9x PC.) I have some Platinum I/Os lying around: a white Audigy drive and a black X-Fi drive. These drives are pretty much the exact same drive as the IR capable Live! Drive, as far as I can tell. I grabbed a black I/O drive remote from ebay. The original plan was to get a period white/beige desktop or Gateway tower to put this stuff in, but I have a new black desktop case which also matches everything else in the room, so I think I will go with the X-Fi drive. It just sucks that it has the X-Fi logo. Maybe I can print a Sound Blaster live! sticker and place it over the X-Fi logo...

There is an ISO here at Vogons for models including the CT4620. It has been years, but are there separate Platinum version drivers, or can I connect the I/O drive and just use the Liveware disc?

From memory, Live! and Audigy 1 panels are interchangeable .

Audigy 2 and X-Fi (PCI versions, not PCI Express) are intechangeable (I have tested )

I am practically certain hese two groups are not interchangeable among each other. Be careful .

I just examined my two drives and there are a few differences, whereas most of the connectors are the same. I also discovered that my CT4620 is the original SB Live! card. I also have a CT4780. I don't need 5.1 as I will be using a stereo receiver rather than PC speakers with front/center/rear jacks. It does look like I could change the bezels.

I guess I need to know which card/drive/driver combination that will work to give me a SB Live! Platinum experience.
