Maybe SlimFTPd also works on Win95: http://www.whitsoftdev.com/slimftpd/
(It only says "Windows 98/ME or Windows NT/2K/XP".)

The full distribution of WATT32 contains a number of precompiled example application and one of them is a FTPSRV.EXE. It is a LFN capable FTP server. But it is more a demo application than a application for serious work. It has some limitation which I don't remember exactly but definitely it allows only limited number of simultaneous connections.

I'm looking for an FTP server for Win9x/DOS that has long file name (DOSLFN) support in DOS mode.
Is there even such a thing? I was hoping someone here would know.

My backup plan is to use a Win95 FTP server. Possible candidates I found: GuildFTPd, Meteor FTP server, TYPSoft FTP Server. Any recommendations? Otherwise I'll just try them all.

EDIT: The TYPSoft FTP Server is nice in small. No installation, stores data in a couple of ini files. I'm still interested in that FTP server for plain DOS mode though.

Are you ok sharing the reason behind running the server on Win95/DOS? DOS and Win9x have quite a few options for FTP clients, so I always operate the other way around.

I think I just prefer controlling the file transfer from my modern laptop, but I realize I may have to switch things around.

For DOS, I just use what comes with mTCP, but you can run the DOS port of NCFTP client on a 386 or better. For Win9x, I used WS FTP Lite back in the day. Looks like you can still download it for free. You can also try Filezilla 2.2.18 on Win95, although I've never used it in an older operating system.

Windows/Total Commander has ftp client built in.
As I've used it as main file manager back in time (now switched to Double Commander just because it is multiplatform), I've never have a need to use separate ftp client.

For DOS ? Necromancer Dos Navigator also has ftp client (requirement is to have working packet driver), but it is very unstable. But why don't try it, anyway ?

FileZilla is friendly with old dos ftpservers.
