Hi,
I was asking myself why of all the possible video cards I tried along with the Cinemaster C 3.0 C-Cube based dvd decoder using a feature connector for display into its own media player app, ONLY the 3dfx (I tried the Voodoo3 AGP and PCI version) seems to barely work.. and not even perfectly well. That card was supposed to be one of the high end decoders for that period and theorically that solution would have solved the known vga pass cable quality that need to overlay the output of the vga to the output of the others solution (like the Dxr3) resulting in a not really easy setup and manual calibration to have a stable and "sharp" image, still miles far from any VGA only direct connection not to even talk about a DVI one. The idea would have been having that combination working with a DVI card that would send a digital perfect image to the monitor. 😉
So, was that a problem of that dvd decoder or every feature connector expansion cards had similar problems? Cause I remember some Matrox card using those DVD decoders module with the same connector but no Matrox cards I tried works with that card resulting in a resolution/color depth error into the player or something like that.
And I ask myself another thing, why they didn't take the m3D/PCX2 solution, sending the signal through the PCI bus to the frame buffer that worked perfectly well, beside maybe only in full screen (?).
Thanks
