Why does it have a heatsink though? I've never seen an S3 chip older than Savage with a heatsink.

Can't prove it is not factory, but putting one on is not something I would have done in the 90s...

Great card - all the more so if it's cheap: good SBPro2, real OPL3 and Covox and DSS support as an added bonus. Everything you need for early 1990s fun 😀
Just keep it away from noisy devices in the case, in particular on the ISA bus. This thing picks up every click & beep.

I look forward to tinkering with it. I paid only £18.99 which I cannot complain with!

I have that card as well (had to do some trace repair and solder on resistors for the volume control as the volume potentiometer stopped working) and the NX Pro 16 (with Windows Sound System and WaveTable header). I love both of the cards equally as they support Adlib/Sound Blaster Pro, DSS, and Covox Speech Things. Both Disney Sound Source and Covox Speech Things will work with either the virtual parallel port enabled or disabled on the card (if disabled, the PC's parallel port is required to be enabled). Basically plug and play and the card can be configured using the sgpfig software, testing is sg2, and for volume control and resetting the sound card to default settings through sgptsr and pressing Alt-/ to control the input volume and output volume, bass, treble, you name it. The later card, the NX Pro 16, has jumpers by the amp that'll let you choose between internal amp or external amp (speakers).

My NX Pro (non-16) was free for me and the NX Pro 16 was NIB (archived the diskettes to preserve the data in case the diskettes go bad, I'll have the data still and can make fresh copies). The Aztech cards, to me, are considered high end as they support not only a lot of great audio features, but also supports every CD-ROM drive, including Sony and SCSI (both require the optional expansion card), which is pretty darn cool.

These guys arrived today:

Sold as-is, but they are in very nice condition, and people tend to treat their stuff well here in Japan. I won't have much use for the throttle as I'm not a hardcore flight sim fan, but I am hoping that at least the Flightstick Pro works. 😀

My ultimate goal is to get a Pentium 133 up and running, prompted by the "Building the 3 in 1 DOS Retro Gaming PC: 386 486 and Pentium" video by PhilsComputerLab. I was resigned to eventually just spending the $$$ to get something from Ebay shipped here, but as luck would have it, I found a Socket 7 motherboard on Yahoo Auctions Japan for a very nice price, bid, and won!

It's a TMC AI5VP VIA Socket7 Baby-AT with a P133 installed along with 64MB of RAM installed and a SiS 6215 video card.

I'm also bidding on some other parts to complete this machine, but the big issue is going to be finding a case (I can still find used AT power supplies here). I clearly don't want to run this thing bare, so I'll have to look into what can be done about modding an ATX case to fit this, as AT cases are extremely rare here.

I don’t really know if this system could be called RETRO yet, but judging from the sticker on the front "Designed for Windows XP / Windows Vista capable" it should be qualified.

Saved this one from a container of a power plant and yes, it’s really gross.

Board: ASUS P5B
CPU: Core2Duo 6600@2.4GHz
RAM: 4GB
VGA: Nvidia Quadro FX1500 PCIe
Add-On: Adaptec Firewire 800 PCI
HDD: 80GB S-ATA, 500GB P-ATA (+50GB of user data still on them 🤬)
LG DVD-ROM P-ATA
LG DVD RW DVD+R DL P-ATA

I think I’ll give it a good cleanup and store it away for now, except for the optical disk drives (perfect fit for my XP retro system).

Bought a nice ISA VGA card for my slow-going 386DX build. While the Am386DX40 I bought from China is stuck at a shipping hub in the Hague, the board is still in need of some repairs, and I still need to figure out the cache situation, at least this CL-GD5422 is here. Already tested it on a Socket 7 machine, where it worked fine! It's no Tseng ET4000, but then it performs pretty similarly from what I can find, and it didn't cost me what an ET4000 would have cost me! It was €15.

I've decided to go a bit crazy and get a more powerful cirrus logic card to supercharge my 386-DX40:

Fair use/fair dealing exception

My first (and probably only, but hopefully not) ISA accelerator card.

Will definitely compare it to the ET4000 I am currently using, in both windows and DOS.

Now have to wait a month for it to get here.

What exactly is that card? Looks like it is build for a specific purpouse.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

it's mainly a CAD accelerator card with a 3D Labs GLINT 300SX, the S3 Vision is to provide normal 2D.
I've seen somebody say it is the "first 3D accelerator"

the Creative 3D Blaster VLB is based on the same chip (3DLabs GameGlint - a trimmed down version of professional Glint 300SX), hence me asking if it would be somehow possible to get CGL games to run on that card ^^

Especially not for the Macintosh

Yes, and it's made for the Mac using ADB connection. That alone is already special, as game controllers for the pre-USB Macs are hard to find. Having got this complete in box was a huge portion of luck.
