The warning was added because it is very dangerous to mount your entire C:\ drive in DosBox.

For instance,

You want to download an old game.
You download the game from the site.
You unpack the game and place it in your games folder.
You load up DosBox (automatically configured to mount "C:\"
You execute your game using a batch file (.BAT).

.BAT file begins to delete files on your computer......

Obviously this wouldn't be a good thing. 😉

Adding that warning makes it clear that it is not the DosBox developers fault if you get your machine wiped because you did not heed the warning.

Something else. Eg. if you mount your real c:\games as c: in DOSBOX , then all programs in DOSBOX will get just to c:\games ... So you cannot screw up anything elsewhere...
