In dosbox.conf 'windowresolution' setting means 'Scale the window to this size IF the output device supports hardware scaling'

My off-the-rack XP PC does not support it. What might be a good video card for under $150 that supports that? I have AGP and PCI slots available and VGA goes into the monitor. I do strategy gaming (turn-based) so I don't need any video excellence or advanced features, just scaling.

TIA, ushosp ___(DOSbox is great!)___

what video card do you have? try changing output to ddraw or something then see if scaling works.

Thanks. I have S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR 32 MB. I looked through all the settings and properties but I guess it is too low end to have ddraw. Good tip, though, something I will keep in mind as I had never heard of ddraw before now.

My card does support scaling. 'ddraw' is a setting in the very
next line of dosbox.conf and everything is working now. I was
jumping to conclusions about the need for a card. All the feedback
was VERY helpful. Much appreciated.
