I guess the main reason cheaper one like the 3.5" floppy to USB adapters (cheapest is $10.75 on eBay) doesn't exist is probably due to not enough demand.If I could get one that was in the price range of a Gotek or even a bit more, I would be all over it.
Generic USB to floppy drive adapters do exist too, but they are not common . There was a thread about those a while back .
