Is a highly detailled China planned? Was there an announcement?

Now you got me thinking about how much China has changed between each release of MSFS. I expect I'd put the dev budget into stable 'classics' too. Especially all these that are so popular with Chinese tourists.... wait. Southhampton?

Oh holy cow. That's most awesome. TY. And boy is that ever going to drive some Youtube traffic. Should be fair to say we can expect some China in that. With configurable weather & time I'm looking forward to the slice-of-life machinima.

You may laugh at Southampton, which is one of many characterless British cities, but I have now literally seen my house (and office) in Flight Simulator and now I am not sure where humanity has to go as a species!

Can't wait for the macOS version. I remember playing FS98 (and later FS2000) in Windows (98? 2000? sXitPerience?)

I used to be in a brazilian little group of enthusiasts of FS to play together and do some commercial routes for fun (obviously with accelerated time...)

I received an email about the game and when I saw the requirements, I immediately gave up on this game. Like I did with racing games, I will not bother to buy a new machine just to run a game... unless Microsoft makes a version to run on ARM Macs, then I will buy it. But for any current intel computer (be it a PC or a Mac) I will not buy.

Another thing I don't like are the maps on the cloud, so you need a good internet connection to play and see every detail in 4k. And even if I get to download them to play offline, I wouldn't want to sacrifice SSD storage for them.

I guess that I will still be playing FS98 for the years to come....

Well, simulations are among the most demanding applications.
That new flight simulatior is perhaps more faithful than what ongoing pilots use in their simulator's cabin.
Minus the controls, of course. Professional training simulators must be connected to the cabin's instruments and switches, of course. 😉

sounds like you need an AMD system in your life :p

@flight simulator, I'll be interested when there is an offline version.

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it also can be played offline.
With much less detailed maps..

Graphics is definitely the only requirement I do not meet, and I’ll never do because of: a) I prefer laptops, I don’t have a desktop since 2017 and I don’t want to; b) price, my wallet can’t afford it; c) I believe it is bad programming when a game demands too high specs to be playable.

I had thought about doing an eGPU, but it isn’t cheap either. Its half the price of a new desktop computer here. The enclosure alone is 60% of the cost.

Actually I have nothing against AMD, but never owned one and I probably never will, considering I am in the Apple ecosystem 😜

Yup. And probably the detail level will not be that good to be worth the price of the game to play offline. And these maps will be huge, storage is not cheap these days either. GTA V for example is roughly a 80GB download, that reason alone was enough for me to give up on that game.

I see, makes sense to me. Maybe a RAID-0 setup made out of cheap/used HDDs can help creating a cheap storage disk.
In German, there's a Gamer's word for a slow extra HDD with large capacity. It's "Datengrab" (data grave).. 🙂

My father has a similar setup for our home cinema and surveillance cameras. 4 HDDs of 2Tb each, in a total of 8Tb combined.

The problem with that setup is that from time to time something tends to fail and we have to replace the HDD. It happens more frequently than I’d like to say.
