I know that there are EMS drivers for a few 286 mainboards. I have this one set up right now with 2MiB RAM and was wondering if I can use some of the extended memory for EMS?

Alternatively, is it possible to access the UMBs for more conventional DOS memory?

I've not tried it personally, but it is well known and compatible with all 286 systems

Ok, so this emulates EMS via XMS. Well, I guess I can try it out! At least there are more games that support EMS than XMS, I would guess.

It's terrible for gaming don't even bother. EMM286 is horribly slow

Maybe your ti chipset is one in this list ? http://www.win3x.org/win3board/viewtopic.php? … 182644&style=30

Umbdrvr is really good

It lets you do exactly what you want to do here, even use umbs.

It even lets you shadow unshadowed ROMs if you want even if your bios doesn't let you do that

I've used it in my icl drs m40 restoration here ICL DRS M40 16MHz 286 restoration

Oh, UMBDRV looks really good, yeah. I think I have the TI TACT chipset. Let's see...
