I'd spend that much on that motherboard in a heartbeat. EXCEPT it doesn't appear to have the cpu support brackets. Something that can NOT be ignored with slot-2.

In years gone by I did and still have a boxed Supermicro S2QR6 4 x Slot 2 motherboard with all the VRMs + brackets + … sitting on the shelf waiting to be used. When I got it I was overly keen to have a four socket system, but as I now have HP DL580 G5 + G4 + Dell PowerEdge 6300/450 systems and suspect I will never use the S2QR6 , maybe it's time to put it on eBay.

Oh my, what a monster!

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

A Tyan mobo is about to accept dual PPros.

This HP/Compaq monster, unfortunately, needs exact info on the correct ATX power plug pinout or the original power supply unit. The PS unit from Dual Slot2 mobo from HP/compaq did not do the trick.

P.s.
A collection of PPro-capable BIOSes is extended by Asus P3B-F. If someone here have original Asus or other Slotket8, I can share the bios file. The P3B-F’s bios can even handle overvoltage up to 3.5v!

That's going to be a fun system once it's done. What are you using for cpu cooling?

AMD coolers (thin ones should fit) AM2 and compatible. Original ones are also supported, but I do not have them.

My slotkets are designed to have holes for the backplate.

Isn't that the motherboard from a Compaq AP550 Professional Workstation (it's an OEM version of the Intel OR840) - you can find info on the PSU and pinouts in this thread Weird Compaq Motherboard

So you'll have dual blacktops in the Asus board and dual goldtops in this.
You have a really nice dual dual PProp setup 😀

Time to find a period copy of CATIA.

Mentat-vvo - I signed up for an account on Vogons just for this thread. I'd absolutely love to purchase some of your slotkets and pick your brain about some crazy build ideas. What is the most modern chipset you've been able to get the Pentium Pros to function with? Any possibility of a Socket 8 - Slot 2 adaptation? Keep up the great work!

Can you tell me a bit more about this? You reverse engineered a socket 8 slotket is that correct?

Do you have the gerber files available? Or the PCBs for sale?

I have dozens of NOS socket 8 sockets and would be interested in producing some of these.

Thanks!

I believe Asus P3C-D is the most advanced mobo. Slot2 boards are so rare and are designed for the ideological successors of PPRos - P2 and P3 Xeons. No, I did not think about Slotket8S2. If one is interested in slotket8 - email me

so did the tyan tiger with dual PPros work out?

Not yet, since I’ve found RED clone of ASUS P3V133 from Freeway. It is built on a VIA 694X chipset. Need to improve SuperPi result that Asus P3B-F could supply @ 2.5x100.

Yes, I have reverse-engineered Asus C-P6S1 and no, I’m not going to share the gerbers or unassembled slotkets. Slotket8 itself is only a half of the PPro Slot1 system. It also needs a support from the BIOS.

can confirm, he won't let me see the gerbers either!

^.^

That OR840 board would be SO COOL to run with ppro chips. but I personally would keep my expectations at the 440BX chipset level as I doubt newer boards have the voltage regulatiors for 3.3v

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

What's the reasons not disclosing the gerbers of this socket 8 slotkets? There are pretty good demand because people are still looking for all kinds of slotkets including high quality clone to make tualatin slokets without the issues of the previous low quality adapters?

Cheers,

I think the obvious conclusion is he intends to manufacture and sell them

I hope so! Not crazy price too.

But then he'll realize only a few dozen people will buy them if the price is fair. 🤣 .. it's better just to make gerbers for retro computer stuff public, as there's really not a whole lot of revenue in niche products. Someone will just buy one to clone/fork anyway.
