What is the best General MIDI synth for DOS games? -> This is one of the most interesting topics.

I have the following devices:

Roland MT32 old
Roland CM64
Roland Sound Canvas SC55 Mark I
Roland Sound Canvas SC88
Yamaha MU50

I don't have much free time but i try to run and listen some games with my midi devices. For the LA i can say that i am completed with the MT32 (old) and the CM64. Regarding the general midi if i have to give a winner i would choose the Roland Sound Canvas SC55. But i can say that the Yamaha MU50 is incredible on the following games:

Doom 2
Heretic
Day of the Tentacle
Sam and Max Hit the Road

- Macintosh LC475, Powerbook 540c, Macintosh Performa 6116CD, Power Macintosh G3 Minitower, Imac G3, Powermac G4 MDD, Powermac G5, Imac Mid 2007
- Cyrix 120
- Amiga 500, Amiga 1200
- Atari 1040 STF
- Roland MT32, CM64, CM500, SC55, SC88, Yamaha MU50
