Dear all,

Do you known if above config works? I have a chicony 486 vlb board and often already saw various pictures with that kind of pin config.

Many thanks.

Most boards accept DIP28 SRAMs in DIP32 sockets. Keep pins 1,2,31,32 empty (the ones near the notch). DIP32 case is used for 512kBit and 1024kBit chips only, that is on single-bank configurations of 256kB cache or more or dual-bank configurations of 512kB cache or more.

I found a umc 32k x 8 high speed cmos sram 15ns.

I am a bit confused by the word CMOS. Is that type feasible as L2 cache?

CMOS is a term related to type of transistor technology.. That's standard and the vast majority of SRAM chips is CMOS.
