Greetings.
A while ago I came across this videocard on ebay, I've been using it on my 486 system as a normal videocard but I would like to know what this card was capable of when it was new. So far I haven't been able to find any information about it nor any drivers and I was wondering if maybe someone here might be able to shed some light about what this card was designed to do.

well the big shielded can is a TV tuner, the card supposedly supports recording, mixing, PiP among other things... idk what the 3rd connector is for though.

So it's a capture card rather than TV-Out? In that case that port is either for an infrared remote dongle or in rare cases, a composite/s-video/audio breakout cable (for other input sources).

I think the din connector is probably s-video, composite, and tv audio.... unless you can trace the leads and figure out what they are though it is pretty worthless without the breakout cable.

Oh wow thanks everyone for all the information, the card has more feature than I thought, I'll try and look for the drivers or maybe some software that made use of it's capabilities, I'll report back if I find anything, Thanks again.

Well, I've been searching for a few days and I'm stuck, the only lead I've got is the thread in the german forum predator99 posted, I've tried to register there to see if I could contact the user who said he had the drivers but they always ban me the moment the account is created, maybe they only accept german users? Maybe someone else could try and register? For the moment I'll do a search from time to time and I'll come back if I ever find anything.

Peacock was a brand name by Vobis..
Maybe the card got relabled and was known by another name, also.
If we only knew the chipset.. Maybe drivers for another card will work the same.

Peacock indeed is a brand name used in Germany to (mostly?) for far-east OEM equipment, created by a separate legal entity, the "Peacock AG", independent of VOBIS. In 1997, Peacock was bought by Maxdata, while VOBIS had the majority of shares of Maxdata. In 1999, Peacock was sold by Maxdata to Actebis, owned by the German mail-order company OTTO at that time. So Peacock could be considered a brand of VOBIS during 1997 to 1999, but it's not a brand name created by VOBIS for their own equipment. It seems like they were focussing on their primary brand name Highscreen.

Interesting, didnt know about the connection between Vobis and Peacock. Have been thinking this is a US manufacturer.

The picture behind one of the links says it was taken from "BTTV Gallery". This site seems to be down. The mentioned tuner Philips FQ916ME/L is supported by BTTV, but its only for Brooktree cards? Maybe worth to try...
