I don't know if this is more "junk" than "retro", but I'll post it here anyways 😀 Bought this 2006 MacBook for five euros 😁 I don't really care for Intel macs, but at this price, it was cheap enough to buy for no reason. Maybe I'll use it as MP3 jukebox in my garage workshop or something.

It has 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo, 512MB RAM, 60GB hard drive. To my surprise, it seems to work perfectly fine. I don't have a charger for it, but the battery had 10% charge, which allowed me to take a look around. All previous owner's stuff is still there. Some people really don't seem to care what happens to their data, when they get rid of their old computers.

My winter project this year will be getting two ALR 6x6 servers up and running and see how well Doom runs on them. 🤣

You really, really need to make a thread for that 😎

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

VERY nice sir!!! I look forward to seeing the restore project. Of course Vcfed folks will probably be able to help you with it along the way. My winter project this year will be getting two ALR 6x6 servers up and running and see how well Doom runs on them. 🤣

You might find this article on CPUShack.com useful. It's in several parts, but describes in detail how the writer got the same system running, so it may be useful when you ned to troubleshoot problems.

See my graphics card database at www.gpuzoo.com
Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the link as mentioned in another thread of mine. I mostly am good to go. I'm going to have fun with it, do a few videos and we'll see where it goes from there. One nice side benefit about that Wang and these ALRs as winter projects is the heat they give off.

Bought a Toshiba T2400CT on eBay (only bidder). Unfortunately, the photos aren't showing up on eBay, which is sad since I would love to see what's under the hood since it can take an optional sound card.

I wish there was more purple hardware ^^

I miss the old PNY "Verto" video cards with the bright purple PCB. Those were cool.

New user here but long time lurker! Really glad I found vogons as to be frank my faith in modern PC games shook my appreciation of PCs as a whole. My retro collecting started a few years ago, it didn't take long to realise you need to cast your net out far or in unlikely places for some of the more desirable goods.

Anyway hopefully I can satisfy your lust for PNY Purple/Pink PCBs and prove the existence of a fabled card or two at the same time! It's a Japanese brand which is still gong I think but these are most likely PNY cards

I give you a FX5600 XT PCI 128MB (believe it to be 64bit but tbc)

Both have aftermarket coolers attached. They were destined for keeping NEC PC 98 series machines that lacked AGP going a tad longer.

Ye already be disturbed; now leave me be. Yer company be toil enough as is.

Recently I bought a very old compaq Pentium MMX notebook on a flea market with all the the data on the 2GB hard drive, discovered that the notebook belonged to a famous writer/musician married with a famous actress here in Brazil 😜

Erased every thing anyway.

Managed to pickup this goodies :

Sim_Check.jpg

A DRAM tester, and a very good at it. The cool thing is that it has a NEC v20 inside ....

Sim_Check_02.jpg
"don't turn it on, take it a part"..... Had to, 110v tranny had to be replaced.

Also a ultra rare diagnostics card for Schneider Euro-PC .... maybe 2 of them of different test types :

EuroPc_diag_mod2.0.jpg

EuroPc_diag.jpg

A PSU for Schneider EuroPC .... in good condition:

MOD action: translated to English with Google Translate:

My name is Luís Rodrigues, I'm from Santarém and I have a broken EuroPC that I can't deal with.
I've already lost a lot of time with it and I'm almost giving up on repairing it.

From what I see in your post you have two diagnostic cards for the Euro PC.
Are you interested in helping me out so I can try one last attempt to get it working?

that post is a year old, you'll have better luck contacting that user directly if you need help.

also it'd be nice to everyone to use the common forum language ^^, you can just use google translate.

Awesome Montaron!!!!!

You will have to install rivatuner and find out the specs for those cards, I thought INNO3D was the only company that made pci FX5600s.

Where did you find those cards?

I'm huge into pci graphic cards, I'm in the process of putting together a Athlon MP 2600(Barton) system together on the mpx chipset for 66mhz pci, with a voodoo 5500 Mac edition.

Great stuff!

Yeah, I'm sure Luckybob will do his own ALR 6x6 build thread eventually as he has two himself from the haul. There is one member here who bought one off of me super cheap, but they are having post problems due to possible power issues. I delivered it to them in my car because I was going cross country, here in the U.S., and just happened to be going near their neck of the woods. So I have two left of the five that were saved. I have no interest in keeping them and will eventually get them good homes for cheap. No way am I shipping them though. I looked into that for a few people and it's rather expensive as you can imagine (the bare bones case approaches 45kg). Plus, getting them to their destination without damage would be challenging. I certainly don't want to deal with a "I want my money back because it got damaged in the mail" scenario. I am just on the road too much to own something this cumbersome, but I am still happy I was able to rescue them.

Thanks!! I have a NEC PC 98 machine and looked at what the options are to max it out. I discovered the brand that had been keeping PC 98 fans happy called Kurouto Shikou (they also made the Change-AGP2PCI device).

Took a longgg time before they turned up on Mecari and Yahoo auctions but nabbed them along with a... Albatron 8600GT PCI which is probably pointless but it might rock with OC and 66Mhz 🤣.
Shipping was a bit expensive via a proxy.

Outstanding, I have a similar system that needs a recap based on the IWILL MPX2. Put one of these and Voodoo 4/5 in the 66Mhz slots leaving AGP for another graphics API or XP card 😁

I love the sound of Spanish/French/Italian, but so far I currently only speak Swedish, Norwegian and English (and just a little German).

Would love to learn Spanish/French/Italian in the future (love those countries, and their cuisine) if I can get time and priority for it (and Japanese as well, love that country as well).

Would it be possible to keep the conversation in English?

I for one would really appreciate that! 😀
