More good news for me; two more motherboards from my $80.00 haul a few weeks ago have tested okay - a P8P67-M Pro, and a P8Z68-V. I was initially worried about the P8Z68-V, because it gave me four short beeps and wouldn't go any further, but it turned out that the BIOS was too old for an Ivy Bridge CPU. Luckily the computer I gave my cousin still has a Sandy Bridge, so I borrowed that. The P8Z68-V is going to be an upgrade for a computer I built for my cousin, so I wanted to use an M.2 drive. I followed the instruction here ( https://www.win-raid.com/t871f50-Guide-How-to … -UEFI-BIOS.html ) to add NVME support to the BIOS, flashed it, and it now supports the Ivy Bridge CPU and I'm just finishing up setting up Windows 10 on the drive.

I had one of those 7900gs cards when they were NEW and it was dogshit.

How on earth are they worth $250 now?

AGP. In any case, I had a PCIE 7900GS back then. I voltmodded it and put a different cooler on it and had it at a 50% overclock for about a year before it died. Was a pretty nice card with it overclocked that much.

You think $250 is a lot... go look up going eBay prices for an AGP 7950GT.

What exactly is so good about this? It's just another solid BX Slot-1? Can't seem to tell what it has over things like the P2B variants or the BX2000 variants..

The Microstar BXMaster is also a holder of the AnandTech Editor's Choice award
1. It has an UltraDMA/66 controller just like the cubx
2. will support 768mb of ram, supports 1gb ram on BX if registered Dims, supports ECC
3. Supports up to 155mhz Bus
4. 1.3V - 3.5V vcore in .5 increments.
5. All PCI slots support being Masters "BXMaster features a PCI arbiter chip that allows all 6 of those PCI slots to support bus master devices. PCI slots 1 and 6 still share an IRQ, as do slots 3 and 5. Slot 4 shares an IRQ with the onboard USB controller. "The AGP slot can share an IRQ with either the first or the second PCI slots
6. In many review you can see the BX Master is faster than other BX boards.
7. It is a Top Tier BX board. And beat Cubx in benchmarks.
8. They are Rare, much rarer than Asus cubx or other top tier boards.
9. That particular board was recapped, saving me time and money.
10. It Supports Northbridge Core voltage, and had a rare optional Thermal Sensor for it.
11. The Seller Recapped the board, which is a plus.

I know, it's perfection. 🤣 I love small motherboards for some reason. I should be able to put this in a small mATX case. I've been wanting to do a reverse sleeper 486 DX4 build in a nice Lian Li or Silverstone case.

I just found one of these today in my garage. I must have bought it a while back and forgot about it.

That would be awesome. I've been working on a couple projects like this, but I'm always out of time, money, or both. 😀

Received mATX Asus K8S-LA based made for HP socket 754 using SiS 760S and 964 southbridge, 512MB and Athlon 64 3400+ 89W (2.4GHz) does have 3 phase VRM using ATX 12V 4 pin connector. I have 2Ghz 51W 90nm 3000+ coming to replace this. Would be nice Athlon XP or P4 alternative for 98se so I can run any of the Geforce FX, Geforce2 or Geforce4 at my choosing.

Cheers,

Great Northern aka Canada.

Can't believe I Stole this. Are people so caught up on cubx hype that they don't know how good this board is?

Unfortunately I think you'll find that AT boards don't fit in mATX cases very well.

On that little board however, only the top PCI slot would be inaccessible in an mATX case, and generally you won't use more than 1 or 2 PCI slots on a 486. But I believe some customizations will be required for the standoffs and the keyboard connector as those probably won't line up.

Have been meaning to post these for many years. Anyone have an idea of what they are?

There were a couple of 4 mb PCMCIA flash cards in the lot, which I took out and used for my 200lx and WinCE PDA, but these don't appear to fit any slots that I have.
