I dunno what the heck kind of heat sink Socket 4 CPUs use, because the socket definitely doesn't have Socket 7 style tabs. Maybe they clip/adhere directly to the CPU?

My ghetto solution was thermal paste on a socket 7 cpu and a dab of high temp super glue on each corner of the CPU heatspreader using a socket 7 HSF.

Ordered this from ebay to replace the non MMX CPU I had in my Pentium. The performance increase is great.

Geez I didnt know the pictures were going to be gigantic.

Last year or so I bought a whole stack of 2.5 inch 80GB hard disks for cheapo. The other day I got some 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch brackets and IDE adapters. I'm using one in my current nostalgia build (Pentium II 350Mhz, 512MB, AOpen AX6B, nVidia TNT AGP). For 486 and older I prefer to use CF/IDE but I think this a great option for anything Socket 7 and upwards. So far, works great!

Yeah, most I have seen, does. Unfortunately that has a habit of ruining the printing, especially on the gold tops ..

The seller had 9 pieces of this board for sale.

All unused and boxed.

I only need the GA-7IXE4 (Socket A) to complete my K7 collection with ISA slots... I also own an Abit KT7 socket A motherboard.

Socket 4 has tabs, but they're offset instead of being directly opposite. But most heatsinks didn't use them anyway, they were either stick-ons or had plastic handles to grab the sides of the chip. Don't bother searching for "socket 4 heatsink" because you'll just get a bunch of socket 478 results; look for "486 heatsink" instead and pick one without any clips.

I have that exact same board, it's not very good (no on-board floppy/IDE) and I've only kept it around because it has a funky GUI/desktop interface bios that even supports mouse navigation (shown here).

Nice! Nothing like a shiny new mobo. If those motherboards came from a company lot I have seen where IT staff will toss all the manuals and accessories into other boxes or trash and keeping only one copy for the files. I've seen it happen numerous times. I had a couple of these NOS Gigabyte Slot 1 boards a few years back luckily from a private owner. Gave them away as I already had a dual Slot 1 board.

Very tempted with that auction to complete the Gigabyte trio but probably have to resist, good find!

NOS 7DXR, 7IXE4 here. Also a nice FIC AD11 NOS

Don't forget Biostar, especially the elusive M7MIA as @cyclone3d has (I only have the M7VKQ which recently arrived)

Yeah. Every company has its ups and downs. ECS actually made a decent Socket 8 board. The P6FX1-A.

Bought this nice piece of hardware. It's in perfect condition and works like a charm still.

@liqmat actually ECS was decent before they bought PCChips in the late 90's. Now you get why they went downhill afterwards ? ^^
