WHUH-HO!! Glad I didn't buy that new GPU right away.

Anyone else see the Zen 3/Ryzen 5000 announcement today? A 19% increase in IPC and higher clocks to boot! Sounds like one hell of a CPU to pair up with a brand spankin' new RTX 3080. I'm gonna be so poor in December. 🤣

Nope.

Like Apple, I’m done with Intel. They’re just so goshdang boring these days. But instead of going ARM, I see a Zen 3 core in my future. 🙂

And now, back to RTX 3080 stuff...

just waiting for Zen3 based 35W APU, then i will maybe upgrade my old A10-7800. But rather not, because I loose XP compatibility.

I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.

I'm guessing you aren't going to be if you're expecting RTX 3080 20GB to start selling in December.

That rumor just makes no sense to me. Due to poor supply, December is still going to be in the return window for a lot of 3080 and 3090s. If the 3080 20GB is a good value proposition, that's a terrible idea.

I've decided to stick to my GTX 1060 for the foreseeable future. That whole RTX30xx launch is a mess with bad PCB design, inflated prices and supply chain problems.

RTX can wait for a while. I was fine without it for ages, I will be fine without it for a little while longer. 🙂 And I'm absolutely not paying more for a GPU than for mainboard, CPUs (yes, two of them) and RAM combined.

What is that? I'm not even sure how its spelled =)

Edit : Looked it up, some exotic cooling scheme I take it.

That’s an excellent decision!

Good choice. I still use my 780ti Kingpin 😀 (great VGA output)

It seems like i'll need to hang on to it anyway if I go Navi with the backwards compatability.

I can accept that though, there is no excuse for the 30x0 power consumption in my book and that's coming from a Kingpin owner.

No disrespect to new owners, I understand the quest for frames enjoy your new V12 frame rate monster.

Yeah don't cave in to early adopter enthusiast peer pressure. 2010's machines are hardly obsolete and RTX hype over shiny that was commonplace with RTT buffers with shaders a decade-and-a-half ago isn't that big. Kind of like the DX11 reinvention of tesselation...

I doubt most people are buying the RTX cards for the RTX, most people are probably buying them for performance.

Now that the Xbox and PS are going to have ray tracing cross platform games (all the major 1st party games) will support it and it will increasingly become a reason to buy a card with Ray tracing capabilities. Also when AMD gets their implementation out most of the fanboys will stop putting it down and start talking about how amazing it is.
