That's curious. I guess the corona virus has infected Microsoft's servers as well.

As of yesterday, October 5 2020 Windows XP update & Microsoft update for XP no longer work and shows the same error as before!
XP SP3 w/ all updates thru 2019 runs fine of my Lenovo T61. Mypal browser runs OK and has regular updates.

XP runs just fine on many old systems as long as it is not connected to the internet! I have assembled over 40 systems and XP is installed on the majority of them form 1400s with 1.5gb of ram where it is usable going through P4/Athlon Xp with 2gb of ram where it is good but not great up to to FX-60 with 4gb of ram where it flies!

No one told that XP would not run great on older or even newer systems. Richb93 just questioned why it is good to patch XP beyond SP3 (or even SP2?) if you do not want to connect it to internet anyway...
It can be argued that POS updates can cause more troubles than benefits. There are no XP compatible programs/games that can only run on XP when POS updates are installed. And these updates do not speed up XP any way to say the least. Not to mention problems with processors lacking SSE2, MS installer errors and other quirks caused by these updates.
