When did the first DVI video cards pop up? Which are the earliest cards with DVI output?

This came up a few months ago: Oldest video card with DVI?

Is this too much voodoo?

1999, can't certainly say which card exactly would have been the first one, but some ATi cards from that era started popping up with DVI

I had a crappy 16mb AGP 2x card with just DVI
It only worked in one of my boards.

Very buggy, scaled resolutions wrong and failed in a few months.
