PC:

Intel Pentium 3, 600 Mhz
Graphic Card: Matrox 200
Sound Card: On board Crystal
Joystick: "Normal" 15 pin conection to gameport
Operating system: Windows 98 SE

Problem: I've installed red Baron (floppy disk version). The Dosbox recognize the Joystick as a CH Pro but the game do not recognizes it.
Even if I make changes in the Config file, Dosbox continues to recognize it as CH Pro. Any ideas of what to do?

Thanks for your time and congratulations for all the efforts of the team.

That should be just the identificator SDL returns. Is the joystick installed
correctly under windows? Is it working there?
What dosbox version are you using?

What type of joystick is it? If windows detects it as a CH Pro everything
should be fine.
Try to start the game with low cycles and using the normal core
(like 1000 cycles and below).

Does not work.
Another peculiarity: When the joystick is connected and I start Dosbox, it is impossible to write anything in the dosbox window.
When I disconnect the joystick, then appears the blue screen on the Dosbox window

Not that it matters, but how would you expect a game to work with a
joystick if dosbox is unresponsive?

As for analog joysticks you might want to try hal's build from

Thanks, with the patch and the new dll's now it works perfectly.#
Why they do not do it in the original version?

I don't know what exactly hal modified, but i guess it's caused by
the analog joystick (usb is fine) which is very slow when reading
the position. This has been fixed some time after the release.

It only has the stickopt.

Oh and I've moved the GFX_Events to VGA_VerticalTimer.

Hi, Hal9000.

I remember having seen some downloads for joystick in your website some time ago and now I do not find them. I used them for running dosbox with an old joystick (the one you plug to a game port, NOT USB) and they worked perfectly. Is there anyway to get those files? Thank you. I lost mine in a computer crash and now I regret it.

Kind Regards

I did not try with 0,72. Sorry. I will try with 0,72. By the way, the problem with analog joysticks has been fixed in 0,72?
Thanks.

Think it was fixed for 0.70 already.

That's why I removed those files...

I still have the old modified SDL.dll though...
