I'm trying to get clover bootloader downloaded and installed onto a hard drive I will then transplant into a pentium one motherboard computer

I see it says you have to compile the 32 bit version yourself?

i have literally no idea what I am doing here. help?

I'm open to other boot loaders as long as they support cd rom, sata cards, pata cards and m.2 booting (yes, I have a m.2 on this computer on adapters)

sil0680 pata card
promise tx4 300 sata

I used it on much more modern hardware, so what I know is of little use. I used the tutorial here, but if you read through this thread, there may be someone trying to use it with hardware old enough to assist. https://www.win-raid.com/t2375f50-Guide-NVMe- … der-method.html

After watching many YouTube videos about older computer hardware, YouTube began recommending videos about trains - are they trying to tell me something?

so if the sata controler have an option rom, and the bios is compatible it will load the option rom during boot. The card will detect the drive. If the card doesn't detect the drive than you can't boot from it. From bios the option generally is called scsi, as boot to int13 card.

I shouldn't need to explain that you probably need to disable the onboard ide controllers to free up IRQs.

IF the bios loads the option rom it detects the drive than you can install dos to it. If the controller card is in IDE mode.... not raid mode. raid mode will not work unless you create a raid with 2 drives then through int13 it is detected as a single drive to dos. If your card has a IDE bios i suggest thats what you use. there are raid and ide bios for the controller card itself.

I can tell you strait up that 98 or me is not going to work on that card if its in raid mode. If you do ide mode you can use rloew sata patch maybe. http://lonecrusader.x10host.com/rloew/ptchsata.html

I don't see how cloverboot loader will help you. You maybe trying to use a nvme, but you are not using it as pci-express am i rite. You are using a adapter that is translating it in hardware somhow to sata or somthing else, so that is irrelevant. If the card doesn't see the drive during option rom detection than you cant use it.

I'd give an older version of PLOP a shot.

I have already disabled unused features in bios 😀

The hope is to put the boot loader on a compact flash card on the motherboards IDE master but so far I’ve kind of been stuck due to not having a reliable way to do that then transplant it
The micro drive doesn’t fit in my card reader and windows doesn’t see the microdrive when I install it in a pci to ide card 🤣. I’m roadblocked no matter what I do 🤣.

I need to get some kind of os on this computer so I can springboard off of that. I can then make boot floopys, copy files to the drives, etc. I’m basically trapped out of it atm though 🤣.

Gonna try moving the files for 98 install manually to a hard drive and teansplant it.

What is the newest version that will work? Does it support nvme booting?
