you can just copy the ICD .dll into the game folder and hexedit out all the multitexturing extensions.

Half Life runs well on my K6-2+ With rage 128, a P3 should run it fine even in Software Mode..

Hi Guys,
I am trying to do some HL1 benchmarks without luck. Even if I record my own it just doesn't play afterwards.
I have 1.0.0.9 GOTY currently but hoping I can try the benchmark from BeginnerGuy but cannot find HL1108.exe. Does anyone have a link?

Super old thread but I used to play Half Life at lan parties ( A lot) at the end of the 90s and everything about this machine should make it run 60fps except for the TNT2 M64, which was never a good card. A overclocked Voodoo will get you there though.
did somebody compare radeon vs geforce opengl performance in goldsrc games? in 2021 I still experience radeon cards having bad performance
5800X + 6800XT in sven coop fps drops to 20fps x)
i did not have something like this with a geforce..
Win10 Ryzen 7 5800X | TUF B450M-Pro | 32GB DDR4-3800 CL16 | RX 6800 XT
WinXP Core i3-3220 | H77 Pro4-M | 8GB DDR3-1600 CL9 | X1950 Pro
Win98SE Pentium E5800 | 775i65G R3.0 | 512MB DDR1-400 CL2 | X850 XT
The stand-alone Sven Coop that's on steam has some major renderer cruft changes, I wouldn't see that as a good yardstick to compare two vendors on with regards to Half-Life.
Didn't they remove OpenGL from the original HL/goldsource engine in favor of Directx?
My builds!
The FireStarter 2.0 - The wooden K5
The Underdog - The budget K6
The Voodoo powerhouse - The power-hungry K7
The troll PC - The Socket 423 Pentium 4

afaik OGL is there and the default option on steam.
Is there a way to run HalfLife on Voodoo1? I'm trying to do it on Pentium III -500/256MB/S3Trio+Voodoo1. I get 1-2 FPS in the game itself. The intro - riding on rails stretches for 20-25 minutes, sometimes smoothly, 15-20FPS, sometimes freezes for 1-2 seconds. The sound is interrupted. When returning to the menu, it loads line by line for about 10-15 seconds. Maybe there is some trick to make the game work smoothly?
Are you using a MiniGL to play? Which version? Are you sure you've picked that over the OpenGL ICD that came with your Voodoo driver (or god forbid the Microsoft OGL emulator!)?
Thank you! I reinstalled the minigl driver, installed the patch to version 1.1.1.0 and replaced the ISA sound card with a PCI one and it worked properly

That is great news! Also try to run it with 512x384 resolution! Also you can add Vram to the Voodo 1!
