I am building an LGA775 Win98SE/Linux dual boot system. I know it is possible to get this done, sonehow. There are bits and pieces in threads here, some weird videos on YT but no complete tutorial on how to install Win98SE on a system with 2GB+ RAM and keep it stable. If there is one please link me to it?

Phil briefly goes over it in this video, and links to the patch in the description.

Doesnt that patch require <512MB physical memory during initial install? Does an installation ISO with the patch slipatreamed exist?

I did it a while ago, and I don't remember all the steps, but you I believe you get through the first step of the install process, then boot, drop to DOS, patch, and then continue the install. The Rudolph patch has the notes for each step you need to take.

You can get past most memory checks on the initial install with command line flags and I might have also used a HIMEMX or another memory manager.

Much, much easier to just use a 512mb DDR(whatever) stick and apply the patch after you are up and running though. Only reason I did it like that is my platform was DDR3, and finding a 512mb DDR3 stick is just about impossible.

Thanks for the information, I dug through the patch files and MANUAL.TXT does indeed have a simple walkthrough of the steps needed. Now I can start my LGA775 build.

You can also do it with 2 GB. The first part of the Windows installation (before the first restart) actually works with 2 GB.
During the installation, after the first reboot, you need to boot into "Command Prompt Only" mode and follow the steps in the guide (MANUAL.TXT).

2 x PLCC-68 / 4 x PGA132 / 5 x Skt 3 / 1 x Skt 4 / 9 x Skt 7 / 12 x SS7 / 1 x Skt 8 / 14 x Slot 1 / 6 x Slot A
5 x Skt 370 / 8 x Skt A / 2 x Skt 478 / 2 x Skt 754 / 3 x Skt 939 / 7 x LGA775 / 1 x LGA1155

Yuu can install it on another machine, patch it and migrate to LGA775

Yes, I think the same.
Windows 98 setup contains of three parts (two Windows-based ones), as far as I remember..
DOS-based setup
Windows 3.1-based setup (3.1 is in mini.cab)
Native, Windows 98-based setup

Both DOS and Windows 3.1 have less issues with lots of RAM.

Edit: If run on Windows 9x (95, 96, 98FE), setup will usually skip loading the first two parts,
since "The first part of the Windows installation (before the first restart)" - the first graphical one - is essentially a
Windows 3.1 program that can also be run from Windows 9x directly.

Edit : Minor edit. What I wrote is just a fun fact thing.
