Dosbox runs fine on Win XP, but when I hit ALT + Enter for full screen I get "signal out of range" from my TFT monitor.

I have tried using an old CRT monitor and full screen works fine on it.

I suspect that Dosbox is using a refresh rate higher than the TFT will permit (75 Hz max), but cannot find how to edit it. There does not appear to be a suitable entry in the Dosbox config file.

I have tried setting the refresh rate to 60 Hz through XP control panel, but it appears that this is being overriden. I have also tried setting different resolutions in the Dosbox config file (I normally use 800x600), all to no avail.

If anyone could offer any advice as to how to reduce the refresh rate to get full screen working with a TFT monitor it would be much appreciated.

I had this problem too.
Try to run dxdiag, go to more help-->override and set the refresh rate to 60. If this won't work or if this will slow down the graphics, disable the override and use a program called RivaTuner. It used mainly for tweaking nvidia videocards but not only. It can force refresh rates. Force your refresh rate to 60. You can create with rivatuner monitor driver file that limits refresh rate to 60 in all resolutions. If you install it, you won't need RivaTuner each time. This worked for me.
Also, if your monitor and videocard both have DVI, try using DVI cable. It should solve the problem.

Thanks for the pointers. Dxdiag override worked best for me.

I also tried using RivaTuner but found Dosbox tends to hang when exiting some games.

Many thanks for the help, much appreciated.
