Tidbit of information about the AudioPCI 5000:

This is a OEM version that was used by Gateway 2000, amongst others. It has better AD/DA conversion than the standard models (see old Ensoniq website on Internet Archive.).

Also, I see you have it listed as using a ES1371 chip, but mine uses the ES1370 chip.

There are too many different OEM versions, most of which I can't find on the Internet. So, I'm only covering retail cards or some common OEM ones in this thread.

By the way, I've also found that VMware had x64 driver for ES1371 (VMware VMaudio), which I tested working in Windows 10 x64 (in VMware).

After some time collecting various drivers, I've figured out the driver compatibility of different versions of AudioPCI.

However, I don't know whether Ensoniq ES1371 DOS drivers can be used with CT5880 cards (like CT4750). I hope someone can test it.

Update: VMware VMaudio driver won't work with real hardware. It's intended for use within VMware only.

This is pretty niche, but since this thread's a repository of all things AudioPCI, then it might as well be here.

A year or two back I picked up an AudioPCI 3000 but unusually, it came with a separate "power amplifier" board based around the LM1876TF.

Excuse the crappy better-than-nothing phone photos on a stormy day:

Note in these photos that the heat sink for the aforementioned IC has been removed by me, in the course of mucking around with it.

Interesting ! Assume the back plate was bolted to the holes with square solder pads or maybe mounted somewhere else in a specific OEM case ?

IIRC the best versions were the ES1370's with Tantalum caps, basically before Creative got their grubby cost-reducing hands all over them.

Recently I'm digging into various AudioPCI cards but realize that the drivers for different models of them are different. The drivers on vogonsdrivers.com are all for ES1371/ES1373 but no ES1370 or EV1938. So I downloaded many drivers for different operating systems and looked for device IDs and here's what I've found:
ES1370/CT5507: VEN 1274 DEV 5000
ES1371/CT2518/ES1373: VEN 1274 DEV 1371
CT5880: VEN 1274 DEV 5880
EV1938: VEN 1102 DEV 8938
CT5880's driver always comes with newer version ones of ES1371/CT2518/ES1373, which doesn't include DOS driver. Besides, I've read from some website that CT5880 is an updated version of ES1371/CT2518, which added 5.1-channel output. Then I found cards as many as possible to look for their chips:
AudioPCI 1000/3000/SoundBlaster PCI 64: ES1370 with AKM AK4531
AudioPCI 5000: ES1371 with TriTech 28023
AudioPCI 5100: ES1371 with TriTech 28023 and LM1876T amplifier
AudioPCI 5200: ES1373 with TriTech 28023
CT4700 (SoundBlaster PCI 128): CT5507 with AKM AK4531 and TDA7360 amplifier
CT4730 (SoundBlaster PCI 64V): EV1938
CT4740 (SoundBlaster PCI 16): ES1373/CT5880 with Crystal CS4297A/SigmaTel STAC9721T and TDA1517P amplifier
CT4750 (SoundBlaster PCI 128 Digital): CT5880 with SigmaTel STAC9708T (The only 5.1-channel AudioPCI)
CT4810 (SoundBlaster Vibra 128): CT2518/CT5880 with Crystal CS4297A/SigmaTel STAC9721T and maybe TDA1517P amplifier
CT5800: ES1373 with SigmaTel STAC9721T
Also there're some mysterious EMU10K1X (VEN 1102 DEV 0006) cards, like Sound Blaster Live! SB0200, Sound Blaster 5.1 SB0680 and Ectiva Audio 5.1 TP0033, which according to some posts may be AudioPCI, though I'm suspicious about this.
Because of the use of SigmaTel STAC9708T codec, the CT4750 card should have the best output quality.
Drivers for these chips are different. Except EMU10K1X, there are 3 different drivers for these chips. ES1370/CT5507 one, ES1371/CT2518/ES1373/CT5880 one, and EV1938 one. Drivers on Ensoniq website are for ES1370/CT5507 only and there's no DOS driver. Drivers on Creative website are for ES1370/ES1371. No EV1938 driver anywhere. I'm sure that CT4730 was a retail card. Some DOS drivers mislabeled ES1371 as SoundBlaster PCI 64V, but in fact it's not.
Therefore I'm interested about driver support for these cards under DOS/Windows 9x/Windows XP. It would be greatly appreciated if someone can provide drivers for these cards for DOS. Currently only ES1371/ES1373/CT5880 have DOS drivers.

CT5803 (Sound Blaster PCI 128): ES1373 with Crystal CS4297A, SPDIF output
CT5808 (Sound Blaster PCI 128 Compact): CT5880 with Creative CT1297, low-profile card (no Gameport), SPDIF output

Yes you're correct the Ensoniq power amp module did originally come on a standard backplate.

I messed with it a bit to see if I could use it as a cheapfree-and-cheerful mini desktop amp buut it wasn't really worth the hassle. The high water mark of "90s power amplification made for PC internals" being-what-it-is.

Indeed an interesting/weird little thing, but very little practical purpose! This right here, is it's 15 seconds of fame and glory. 😀

By any chance, is there someone here who have the drivers for NT available?

You can try out this driver specified by Creative as "SB PCI64 (ES1370 card)". Wavesets not included.

Does the Ensoniq 1370 with Ensoniq drivers offer an option for Ensoniq Soundscape only under DOS? So no Sound Blaster including FM? I've seen attempts to disable only the FM, but can the Sound Blaster inc. FM be disabled all together?

And the 1370 is incompatible with the Creative drivers? Vendor ID check?

It emulates FM and Sound Blaster Pro too, not sure about disabeling the FM synth. Don't think Creative ever made DOS drivers for the ES1370. Got a couple of recordings from the ES1370 here.

If you run your DOS programs from within Windows 95 or 98 Ensoniq Soundscape mode will work in games.

It's for a DOS/Windows 3.11 machine. I found the drivers but no documentation. As I plan to do SB in hardware I thought it would be fun to add Ensoniq support as long it doesn't conflict with other hardware or hijacks the Adlib port for that horrible FM it does.
