I hope you do want that gorgeous In-Win A500 though :p

No. I have no use for it. There is a Asus P2B inside, with a P3 500 CPU. I already have an Asus P2B board I bought a while ago so I don't really need a 2nd. I have zero need for that system but he tossed it in.

My last post about retro hardware pickups was... long time ago (it was somewhere in the end of june 2020). And i was doing monthly reports, so this one will be... slightly different. Let's go. 😁

Motherboards:

ASUS CUBX-E
cIeGK1Lm.jpg
Interesting and somewhat rare S370 mobo. Probably because it's 440BX and built-in UDMA 100 controller.

I LOVE that motherboard, I have a CUBX-E/P3-1.4ghz system I use frequently for 98se gaming.

No way to top dave343's lot, but still nice to have:

Cyrix FasMath 83S87-16 (387SX 16MHz), Celeron 300 for Socket 370, which is the slowest Celeron (CPU?) for Socket 370 😎 and finally a AMD K6-2 380MHz because why not?

Think by laptop standards these are old enough to count as retro...

Got em in the mail a few days ago, haven't had much time to mess around with them, but put Bodhi Linux on the Dell Inspiron 1501 and Haiku on the Thinkpad R61 (just to mess around with, probably switch to antiX later).

R61 was about 21 euros and Dell was about 11.

Both look barely used at all tho, pretty much new, even the stickers on the bottom are hardly worn at all. Guessing they both came from some business environment, actually from some old files on the HDD the R61 definitely did.

In the archives of the auction site I found an offer with the motherboard that I have been looking for since November. The offer took place a year ago. I asked the seller to give me the buyer's email address. I wrote to him and asked if the motherboard was in use. I was supposed to offer $ 25 right away. However, the seller (buyer 😀) immediately said he wanted to sell it for $ 12. I am very happy because I have not searched for anything so intensely so far.

Got hold of a card near the top of my 'must find'-list:
16123768354990.jpg

Terratec EWS64XL - with a 16MB SIMM

Friend of mine bought one in ~2000. He was intending to use it under Win2k for music production for his black metal group (er, except you weren't allowed to call it black metal despite sounding just like...), but due to driver hell it never delivered on the promise. I now bought this from someone who had gotten it to work for him, he recorded a lot of dark mediaeval-sounding folk stuff with it and used the MIDI synth for backing.

Due to absolutely no musical talent my ambitions are more limited: load that 8MB Hoontech sound bank and enjoy some DOS games 😀

Oh, and the little chips are 512kb SRAM chips to upgrade some boards to 1MB L2

Congratulations! I see we have similar list 😁 The only card I want more than this one is Guillemot Maxi Sound Home Studio Pro 64 ISA, because I am ESS lover 😉

Thanks. Not exactly the same list as I'm not a huge ESS-lover so wouldn't go out of my way for that one. Certainly wouldn't say no to it if offered though, it's definitely an epic card 😉

(and I do like the way it has its RCA connectors on the back instead of on a breakout box in a drivebay like on the EWS64 XL)

Now to find that Ensoniq S-2000 or Elite without having to sell a kidney...

Got this external SCSI 2x CD-ROM from HP. I want to use it primarily with my Compaq Presario 460, but also on other systems. It came with adapter SCSI-LPT and I got it to work and tested it first on WinXP setup. Works, but has trouble reading scratched disks, I noticed. My Win98 setup did not recognize it first but I need to spend more time on it. Can anyone point me to Win98/DOS drivers or instructions on how to make it work?

Make a separate thread with more info (especially modelnumber), people love driver hunting here.

I’ve got a TAG RAM chip (16k x 8 ) for my ASUS P/I-XP55T2P4

The attachment Winbond-TAG-RAM-12ns.jpg is no longer available

and took a picture of the board (to whom it may concern - maybe for vogonswiki, I don’t have write access there)

The attachment ASUS-P-I-XP55T2P4-Rev-3.00.jpg is no longer available

and added another S3 Vision to my 486 parts collection

Last komponents for my SixtyClone are ordered. Hopefully I can finish up my own homebuild Commodore64 during this month.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.

Nice card. Would you mind helping me?

Trying to restore the V7-MIRAGE sticker on mine. On my V7-P64 VLB it is damaged and on PCI (P64-V Turbo) it is missing completely.

Since your looks perfect. Would you mind capturing/sharing high-res picture of the chip sticker?

I'd just print it on label sheet and put it on.

Will do. But it’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Because I sold all my photography equipment I do need daylight to take decent pictures with my phone.

This is as good as it gets using my current equipment. Examined more closely it seems the original quality of the screen printing wasn’t that high to begin with. I’d suggest using this as a template for building an Illustrator replica.

Arrgh... the server is recompressing the uploaded image. I'm going to upload the "original" file to a cloud service and keep it there for a couple of weeks. Keeping the attachment here for future reference.

Temporary link: removed on Sat. 27th Feb 2021 - anyone just drop me a PM if a hires pic is required
