I would like to compare it to my 486 and 5x86 computers.

Speedsys
Topbench
Drystone
Graphics benchmarks too.

Thanks.

Yeah, but I want to compare with his specific build since he calls it a “486 killer”.
I think the only CPU that killed off the 486 was the Pentium.

yes those were captured on this system

It was just a hyperbole. In reality the performance of NexGen P90 is sometimes inferior even to 486DX4-100 in some benchmarks. Especially graphics tests in DOS.

Nice NexGen System.

Where did you connect the Sanyo CDR-H94RSA SCSI CD-ROM drive?
I don't see a SCSI controller card in your system pictures. Do you use some kind of SCSI <-> IDE converter on the Promise Controller?

What is your experience with other graphics cards in this system?
With my ET4000W32/i VLB from Gainward I had to use an additional WS to make it work, so in the end the S3 Vision 864 ended up there as graphics card.

First the NIC. HP J2573 with support for 10mb ethernet as well as 100VG AnyLAN standard (which I would like to use for my home retro LAN).

Have you tried that NIC with mTCP?

I'm trying it with Pentium MMX 166, using the 10 Mbps connector.
In Windows 95 OSR2, it works OK - FTP download to NUL is about 800 KB/s.

With mTCP, however, it sucks real bad, with both the Crynwr packet driver and ODI+ODIPKT:
default settings - 106 KB/s
MTU 1500 - usually less than 10 KB/s, often so slow it's hard to even measure

The Nx586-P90 is the most common NexGen CPU model. Clearly better than almost any 486, but not quite at Pentium level. But no FPU 😲 And again the only option for me.

Software compatibility is much more worse then 486.
Basicly a 386 on Steroids.

Nice Build!
