Can you please enlighten me on the subject of performance difference between 32 and 16-bit RDRAM on i850E chipset? Is there anything other than just "dual channel on a single stick"?
Unfortunately, google left me with no answers.
Zero difference, it is exactly that: two 16b channels on single stick instead of one.
With same specs, expect identical performance.
To my knowledge, 32-bit RDRAM modules never exceeded 512 Mb. Because only few motherboards were made for that standard and only with 2 RAM slots, so you're stuck with potential 1 Gb total. Regular 16-bit RDRAM modules were made in capacities up to 1 Gb (for workstations/servers).
I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.
Also, regular 16b modules were also available unregistered and without ECC up to 512MB, so you could do 1GB on i820 and 2GB on later desktop chipsets with them.
