This sound card is pretty good. It makes less noise than my 486 with Sound Blaster pro 2.0.
And this sound card has allot of customization too.

This 386 computer performs good. Plays DOS games just as good as my 486 computer.
Runs WIndows 3.11 good too.

Interesting build, love the approach! That sound card pictured in the first post looks like a card sold by Diamond that was made by Media Chips vs Media Vision, and sold in a variety of configurations (mostly swapping the Crystal DSP for ADI) with the same YMF-262 / OPL3 chipset for FM audio, most of which were made in Taiwan vs the US?

They had a Mac version of the PAS16 too.

Would adding an “Intel 387 math-coprocessor” over ride the motherboard onboard CPU and turn this into a 387 computer ?

Now that is a dilemma, AMD and Intel CPU working together on the same motherboard.

Okay, I just ordered this Intel 387 math-coprocessor.
Hope it will work in this motherboard.

But LianLi is a Taiwanese company 😀

Yes, Maybe someday I will find a case made in USA.
I am still gathering up parts for this build but most of the motherboard components are “Made in USA”

I ran benchmarks and regression test and this computer it's holding up well in 2021.
Runs quiet , boots quickly, and reliable. I really like this hard drive.
Time to play some games and software.

I have full set of IBM PS/2 Model 40SX. 386SX/20mhz/4mb ram/MCGA/ISA16 with ESS688 SB Clone. Though I have plenty of fast 286's this machine is for a good alternative for them - as it works on the same speed - even in Test Drive III, and also can run some 32 bit software...

Yes, I have an IBM PS/2 but the battery bust and leaked acid all over the motherboard and ruined it.
I might have another PS/2 in my garage not sure.

But I went with the PS/1 instead because it has a metal case not cheap plastic.
and it uses not proprietary components so it is east to fix, upgrade and repair.

The PS/2 uses proprietary components and is difficult to repair, fix, and upgrade.

Also I wanted the flexibility of a more modern bios.

That's why I decided to assemble my own 386 from selected components.

How can I make this build better ?
Using parts made or assembled in USA.

Assembled in Singapore. Interesting...

Might be time for a title edit don't you think?

That box must have been for another identical card. I have a few PAS16 cards.
The one I currently have installed is “Assembled in USA”

"Assembled in USA" probably means the card was made in Asia, and the box and manual were printed in the USA.

Media Vision actually had its headquarters in Silicon Valley and sold sound cards at Fry electronics in Silicon Valley from 1990 to 1995.
