I was persuing the site that sells the 98lite program, the one that can reduce a Windows 9x install to the basics to limit its hard drive footprint and speed it up. While there has been some modest success in getting Windows 9x to run in DOSBox, I'm sure it must run extremely slowly. Perhaps this program may speed it up so that it can actually play a game or two.

Check out the 911 CD Forum. IIRC, there's a project there to create a bootable 9x CD that is extremly stripped down. Much more so than 98lite.

Last time I ran 95 in DosBox it really wasn't that slow but I was just using it on my XP 2800+ machine in normal/full core IIRC.

Problem with Windows 9x and Dosbox is not so much slowness but unsupported devices and that it likes to crash. At least last time I tried, two or three months ago.
