I just built an Intel D5400XS (Skulltrail) system and the interrupt load is much higher than I would expect. Has anyone else seen this and/or know how to fix it please? I initially noticed this as SIV showed it for CPU-0, it's not down to SIV as it was still there when I exited SIV.

I have the BIOS XS54010J.86A.1353.2009.0724.1139 07/24/2009 is there a later one?

Is it possible to boot Windows 10 directly from an NVMe drive? When I installed it would not let me select the NVMe drive and said the BIOS can't boot it.

Lucky dog ya. As a previous Skulltrail owner I even sold my dead Skulltrail board, yeah you heard that right the dead motherboard for a lot of money it was so sought after.
Why are you running the largest trashcan OS of the world (Windoz 10) on it?

That board is from the XP era, you should run XP on it. I wouldn't even recommend win7.

No it's not, it's from the Vista era. I installed W10 as I suspected it would take the lest time and at the moment I am pondering which others to install, I feel 2003 x32 Enterprise Server as it will allow 16GB of memory.

I have been looking for a D5400XS for a while, finally got lucky and found a brand new boxed one for a good price 😀

Yes 1535 is the last BIOS released for the D5400XS as far as I know, from the release.pdf:
"PRODUCTS: D5400XS (Standard BIOS), BIOS Version 1353
About This Release: • July 24, 2009 • XS54010J.86A.1353.2009.0724.1139"

Thank you for confirming this, I was pretty sure it was and decided to ask just in case someone had a later version.

I finally have a handle on the high Interrupt load and it seems to be related to the GTX 460 drivers, above the top screen is using latest 391.35 and the lower one is from before I installed the GPU drivers, note how the interrupt load on CPU-0 is different.

I tried 2 x GTX 285 with the latest 342.01 drivers and quickly gave up on those after a couple of BSODs 🙁

I would like to know what GPUs are driver versions other D5400XS owners use and if they also get the high interrupt load ideally when running Windows 10 x64 Build 19042.

Glad you figured it out ! Had a Intel board and after BIOS update the IME caused somewhat high cpu usage at idle but was able to down grade to previous bios which did not have that issue.
Glad your was just a driver issue !
