Today I am learning about bios modding and am trying to figure out how to transplant a acpi table into my tyan s1564 bios. problem is I can't seem to find a good donor bios for my experiments

I have a chip programmer so bad flashes are no biggie

I figure if I can find a acpi dual socket 7 board bios with a 430hx chipset that may be a good place to start. so the obvious go to is the gigabyte 586dx but I checked it, no acpi table in the latest 1997 bios.

no other boards are coming to mind.. any ideas?

bios with a 430hx chipset

ACPI is not supported by 430HX chipset. If to be specific, it must be supported by south bridge and PIIX3 does not.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

I guess that’s something they added with the 430tx chip(set)?

With the PIIX4 southbridge, to be exact, which can be found coupled with the 430TX and the 440LX (assuming Wikipedia is to be trusted on this matter) .

so there never was a acpi compatible dual socket 7 then? 🙁

Okay, I assume this means there is no way to fool it then from the bios anyway?

Someone mentioned using clover to create a virtual acpi enviroment? Any idea which version I should try? Or will any work on this old of hardware. There is a post they made lemme try to find it..

Here it is..
Re: Has anyone ever installed windows 7 on a non acpi motherboard? If so how?
I can download the version mentioned I’m betting it won’t even load though.. prob requires sse? Anyone with experience running clover on 586?

Maybe I can start with the oldest version and go from there..

would be cool of there was a way to make a interposer and transplant the bga south bridge onto the legged chip spot, do a little bit of bios tweaking and see what happens, but a bit above my skillset.
