When I launch the installer a command prompt window opens, flashes "program too big to fit in memory" and proceeds to close. Also, I've noticed that my computer is treating the installer itself as a DOS app (I've tried and had the same results for win32-installer versions .65 and .63), ie its creating a "Shortcut to MS-DOS Program" link when I view the file's properties.

As to my computer per forum guidelines...Windows XP w/SP2, I've no idea what my mobo is, I've got 512 MB RAM, a 1.7GHz processor, a GeForce4... MX 2000(I think) with 128MB(I know)... and I'm going to say the rest doesn't apply... heck vid card doesn't either...

That behavior is not unusual for damaged executables. Try re-downloading. If you are using some older browser, make sure it does not play any tricks like saving binary file as text. Run disk check and virus check.

i'm using getright to d/l. i've also used plain and simple firefox (the latest version). i'm dialup, but i've downloaded 100MB+ installers w/o fail so i don't see why this small thing would cause such a problem (i noticed if i open it as text it doesn't say "This program cannot be run in DOS mode"). i'll try to d/l from another mirror...

akuyume - if you post the checksum of your downloaded file here, then we can easily check if it was damaged.

Bzzztt! Wrong question.
The right question is: Where is the \ on an US keyboard?
Answer: Next to the SHIFT-key on the right side.

yep. readme is a good place to start. But for now, the slash on an US Keyboard setting on a German keyboard is at #
(I'm posting this because on a typical German keyboard that key is ABOVE the shift-key)
