I was browsing GOG forums and found a thread saying Pool of Radiance version 1.3 played music during the intro. The thread included instructions for setting up DosBox to use Tandy sound to play. I checked my version and it was 1.3 so I tried it. Here is my DosBox config:

pcspeaker=false
pcrate=44100
tandy=on
tandyrate=44100
disney=true

And here is my pool.config file:

E
T
C:\POOLRAD\
C:\POOLRAD\
F

I get no music during the intro. Does anyone know if version 1.3 has music?

This is more likely to work, if the game/version does indeed support Tandy:

machine=tandy
tandy=auto

DosBox runs but locks up when I start the game. No biggie, thanks anyway.

Well, your existing installation is probably not configured for Tandy. You should re-install for Tandy, or at least manually modify the POOL.CFG file. I think the contents should look something like below for Tandy graphics and sound. In my example POOLRAD is the default install directory, but of course use the directory you actually installed to.

I changed the POOL.CFG file to look like this:

T
T
C:\POOLRAD\
C:\POOLRAD\
F
The game doesn't lock up but still no sound. I guess there is no intro music.

The first PC release from 1988 has Tandy music in the intro and at the beginning of battles, but later releases apparently do not.
