Do you remember Phylox?
https://www.dosgames.com/game/phylox/
I tried to run it in Dosbox but it often crashes. Can you add compatibility?

The link you provided is an abandonware link. Abandonware is not supported here.

This is a link to a legit site, with a two-level shareware version of the game. There's a readme file inside which says:

This is a demo version of our shareware game named PHYLOX . It is a true
shoot-em-up featuring 256 colour graphics (Real ones!) and some of the
best animated characters you have ever seen. Get the registered version and
receive all the levels with full Sound Blaster support.

The end of level guardians are as big as you would see on any of the consoles
at half the price! We have been working on it for over a year with the
intention of proving the PC is worthy of good arcade action.

It is a blast from the past with a 90's feel about it. Play it with
the lights out to get the most out of it. You need a computer with at least a
12mhz processor and a decent VGA card.

PLEASE copy it to anyone who may be interested. The full version costs њ24.95

Please specify which version of DOSBox, provide the contents of your conf file, and if possible, tell me when and how it crashes.

I have experience with this shareware version and while it does have some odd glitches I don't remember it crashing in DOSBox v0.74-3.

I have used both DOSBox v0.74-3 and last Ykhwong's DOSBox.
The game freezes after finishing the first level: the victory animation starts and then freezes without starting the second level.
My readme is like yours: I have a demo and not the full game, which I don't know how to get it.

I never had this issue, here are my settings: I ran the game with cycles fixed at 2750 (but DOSBox' default 3000 cycles should do fine too) and used loadfix without parameters (i.e. reserving 64KiB of memory) before running the demo. Everything else was at DOSBox defaults.

UPD: I just tested the play-in-browser version at dosgames.com, which I think runs without loadfix, and had no trouble getting to the second level (man, is this game bad).
