Hi guys I'm looking for a Bios for my oldish laptop its a HP Pavilion DV6 (3032TX) it has the latest Bios installed version F.29 but I'm looking for the version before F.29 or even before that as its not reaching its full CPU speed of 1.6 GHz I'm guessing its a CPU multiplier problem because its only reaching 1463 MHz within Windows 7 and 10. It was fine before I installed the latest Bios (F.29)

I have run CPUZ and HWMonitor to see the max CPU values while running a stress test on the CPU and it shows that the CPU utilization goes up to 100% but its not reaching its max 1.6GHz or turbo of 2.8GHz in the "Power Options" in control panel the max CPU processor state is 100% and the minimum is 5%. When I look at CPUZ under "clocks (core#0)" the highest core speed is 1463 MHz and for that the multiplier is "x11.0 (7-21)" so the highest multiplier is only going to 11 when it looks like it should be going to 21 so maybe an earlier Bios will fix this problem. The Bios is very simple there are no settings to adjust the CPU voltages, multiplier, clocks etc.

Given that F29 (SP55299) targets "...enhanced thermal management. " maybe the slowdown is deliberate

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55299.html

The previous version - F27 (SP52628) is available here

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52628.exe

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52628.html

If you want any older than that, just following the 'SUPERSEDES' # in the F27 html file up the ftp directory tree.

Your knowledge base for drivers blows my googling skills away like a high powered rail gun thanks for that unfortunately I'm still having issues with the clock still going to 1463 MHz I have tried the version before the latest one out F.27 and the one before that F.23 but I'm not sure if I should go before that as F.23 was made in November 2010 and the start date of the laptops warranty is 05/08/2010, could there be a problem with the CPU? If there is how would I test for this?
