Can anyone help me out? I am having some trouble with getting larry 1 [1987] to work on my TNDLPT.
I tried every single version I could find with both AGIT2915 and AGIT2917 patches.
As far as I know, there are only 2 versions released; one hangs on dos, and the other gives a blue screen.

I got almost everything I want working, but this one just puzzles me.
Most of the time I can get by just trying different versions from a Total Dos Collection/Exo pack. or switching around some tandy.drv files. But this one seems stubborn, am I missing something?

Any help or some pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I figured it out!

I couldn't get it to work either. Then I found this blog post where someone was trying to get tandy sound working on a real tandy with VGA graphics.
http://nerdlypleasures.blogspot.com/2015/03/c … s-games-to.html

Many of the files between seirra AGI games are interchangeable. So if you copy the right files from a game that is working with an AGI tandy patch to the directory of a game that isn't working, you can get it to work with the same AGI patch as the working game.

For me, I took the GoG version of KQIII, which works with AGI patch 2936. I copied the following files over to my copy of leisurse suit larry (EGA, 1987)

AGI
AGIDATA.OVL
CGA_GRAF.OVL
EGA_GRAF.OVL
HGC_FONT
HGC_GRAF.OVL
HGC_OBJS.OVL
IBM_OBJS.OVL
JR_GRAF.OVL
AGI2936.EXE
VG_GRAF.OVL

And then ran the patch with the TANDY TSR. Viola! Sound!

The same procedure also worked with my copy of Donald Duck's Playground, which I also had a hard time figuring out.

I'll trade you 😀. Did you (or anyone else) manage to get Thexder working? Nothing I have tried has seemed to work.

Hey mothergoose729, Thank you so much! This is a very special game to me. It was the second AGI game after Mother Goose I ever played 😀
That's definitely some excellent deductive thinking on your part!
And Donald Duck's playground is also hugely appreciated, especially considering Al Lowe also composed the music.

I wish I could return the favor and solve your Thexder problem.
But I tried and failed miserably, because I can't even get that game to work without those patches...
No matter which version, I always get a "file corrupt" message trying to run it.

That's too bad. Couple of things I have tried with my 80's DOS games that have helped those kind errors.

Slow down your CPU, obviously, if you can.

Create a FAT 16 partition on your hard drive that is small. I have an 8mb one. Then copy the game on to that partition and run it from there.

Finally, use loadfix.com. Syntax is easy just loadfix.com [path/executable]. If you are using windows 9x you will need to copy it from a DOS 6.22 or earlier installation.

I figured out thexder finally. I found the latest release version of thexder and then applied the 88 patch. There is a TNDY folder in the same directory... for some reason it directly conflicts with some of the files in the patch folder, but I had to overwrite them after I overwrote the other files. Not sure why it's setup that way but hey, it works!

EDIT: Also, loadfix to get past the package corruption error

Thats awesome!
Let's see if I get this correctly.

So you used the Thexder [a3] (1987)(Sierra On-Line, Inc.) [Action] version from the TDC 18 am I correct?
Then overwrite the files from the thex88 folder, and then overwrite the same files again from inside the tandy folder.
And then finally boot with loadfix.com "path"/thexder.com?

I presume neither THEXVGA3.COM or THEXCGAT.COM patches are used at all?

Yes, that's right. I don't know which version the CGA patch is for. I think THEXVGA3 might be for the second thexder game release in 1990, but that game isn't in my collection so I haven't tested it.

I have 2 questions about my TNDLPT.

1. From which file/extension should I import AGI music in Larry 1, KQ1 - in TNDY Tracker when I import AGI music from game I see only vol1, vol2 etc to choose, and none of these files works, show error message.
2. VGZ files playing in SBVGM player for tndlpt works only witch SN76489 files? I try command in catalog witch program "sbvgm -tndlpt example.vgz" but there is no effect. In readme there is parameter -tndlptnnn, "nnn" - what port adress for LPT1 should be?

Thanks for help.

I'm not sure about the AGI music part, but SBVGM uses the default LPT1 port value of 378. If the LPT port is at a different address (say LPT2 at 278), then it would be "sbvgm -tndlpt278 example.vgz". If you are still having trouble, do you mind telling me which VGZ files you are trying to play?

Thanks. I've tested some vgz files. Command line "sbvgm -tndlpt378 example.vgz" works fine. Still no luck with AGI music import from sierra games like KQ1, KQ2, Black Cauldron. TNDY Tracker start do import sth from "vol1" file and freeze or show error message. SQ1 and Larry 1 SND files added to tracker work ok.

It’s a bit late but I’m looking for TNDLPT.
It seems there are no one selling this.
I wonder anyone have plan to produce and sell it again.

Bring it on!

So this is the elusive secret project that you said would come before the OPL3LPT? I approve and are already eagerly awaiting the finished product.

Now I have to find me a nice 3d printing shop in my city to print out cases for CVX4 and OPL2LPT. As undoubtedly a certain someone will make a case for this as well one day... The anticipation rises.

Hi, sorry for the necro! Please don't be scared! 😅
I just want to mention that DR DOS and Novell DOS support an LPT4 device.
MS-DOS stops at LPT3, though.
To those TNDLPT utility developers reading this: Please consider adding LPT4 support, if you haven't yet! Thanks. 😀

@Jo22 Interesting, especially since the BIOS Data Area only has three words (16-bit values) reserved for the I/O addresses of LPT1 through LPT3.

So how is a parallel port registered to be accessible on device name LPT4 in DR DOS and Novell DOS, if the BDA can't facilitate that?
