Looks like that Officestation is a thin terminal device: https://www.plathome.co.jp/common/cat/pdf/L100.pdf

So it's like 1-10 people are sitting in front of the same computer? Didn't know companies still used terminals when office computers are so cheap.

Probably for companies that are too cheap to buy something like Citrix terminal server (or whatever it is rebadged to these days) and just want to use a single desktop to do the same thing. I mean there's being cheap, and then there's being cheap....

I received today an UMC U5SX 40MHz. Bought this CPU for $ 25 and personally I think it's great deal.
Because there is no PDF for this cpu available on the internet, do you guys know if the "SX" symbol means that there is no coprocessor in this CPU?

Only the U5D has FPU, all the others of the family are without FPU. Also this one you bought it doesn't have the x87 instruction set.

very nice!
don't forget the mandatory recap since all these machines are plagued from leaking capacitors

Just looked over the machine more thoroughly. I ordered all the capacitors for replacement, but they are all brand new already. Sometime in the past few years this was already recapped.

this is good news then but you also thought good because you can never know what caps were used... better he safe than sorry!

Yes, no FPU for the SX version... You can take a look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMC_Green_CPU

Well, since the memory chips are from early 1996, but the VGA chip itself is from waay back in mid-1994, I'm guessing this is a late 1995-model of sorts.... 😅

Won this for under a fiver shipped. It was listed as an Asus ENG600GT, but I think it's actually an EN6600GT.

This arrived today. The clips holding the cooler in place were in pieces in the box, with the spring missing from one of them as well. This was not described in the listing, and the photo showed clips in place, so obviously fraudulent. They were not damaged in shipping, it was well packed. Guess I'll need an aftermarket cooler or a way to MacGyver a fix.

I was looking for GeForce 2 GTS video, but found entire PC with it for just 15 euro 😀
What was in the case:
CPU: P3 800/133/256
MB: Asus CUV4X
RAM: 3x128MB PC133
Video: Gigabyte GV-CF2010D (GeForce 2 GTS 32MB)
HDD: 20GB IBM
Audio: Creative CT4810 (128 Vibra)
PS: Sparkle FSP235-60GT
CD ROM
FDD (not working)
Also there are LAN board, modem and additional printer port .
Case is big and a bit yellow, after fresh Win 98SE and BIOS PC works fine.
Will leave it as it is, it is nice best (almost) of 2000 build.

Cheaper... But harder to deploy. I know 😜.

Oooh... backup the BIOS for the Mr. BIOS thread.
How about a MR-BIOS ROM file repository?

Added another Micro to my collection, which arrived today, the Atari 65XE computer, XC12, tape with games, manual & a PSU. -

SLKe8Zmh.jpg

Keys are a little yellowed, but nothing that can't be easily solved. Otherwise it is in perfect working condition and only in need of some light case cleaning.

Another system I never owned back in the day, but wanted one for curiosity. I actually bought this on a whim, saw it on eBay and decided to grab it.

I know the XL models are a little more desirable among collectors, but my retro budget was a bit tight and the price for this XE was just right and it suits my needs.

I was a bit worried when I first turned it on and saw a brief flash of colour, before it turned black & white. Applied some contact cleaner to the R38 pot and then switched the machine on and tweaked it slightly until the colour reappeared. Nice easy fix.
