One more ISA/VLB pair. Now from ATI.

  • Graphics Ultra Pro ISA
  • Graphics Ultra XLR VLB

I plan to upgrade the VLB card to Graphics Ultra Pro level. That is to 2MB of VRAM and better RAMDAC that is missing in the socket. Feels inferior with just the lowend 85MHz part....

Very nice, the Mach32 (with VRAM) is in my opinion one of the best options from 1993, completely underestimated. Congratiulations!

Epox 7KXA Slot A / Athlon 950MHz / Voodoo 5 5500 / PowerVR / 512 MB / AWE32 / SCSI - Windows 98SE

I loved my Mach32 in OS/2 2.0. Made everything usable.
Good idea to upgrade the ramdac, but just remember to remove the old DIP28 ramdac or you get an odd double picture effect.

How's the mach32 ISA video performance vs WD90C31 ISA?

I had ATI Ultra ISA and was slow. (Not the Mach32, much older than that).

Cheers,

Great Northern aka Canada.

HP Storage Works Ultrium 448 for my 2xP3 worstation. Found it at work, so the price is zero, also I have tons of cartridges.
Really like the massive brushless motors that drive tape and reading head.

I *really* want an LTO-7 or 8 drive for home use, but they're just so expensive.....

Wow, frighteningly large magnetic coils in a device for a magnetic media 🤣

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

That HP drive is sweet. I don't know why but I've always loved and wanted a tape drive. They just seem fun to have and still practical for home use for backing up important data.

I agree Chris, I've just fitted a SCSI HP DAT drive to my Windows 98 box purely because I've always wanted one! Quite satifying to do a slow but steady backup and then put the tape away safely. I've also got a Sun Microsystems external DLT 35/70 here at work on the desk behind me that I intend to rescue from the landfill 😁.

Modern PC: i7-9700KF, 16GB memory, RTX 3060. Proper PC: Pentium 200 MMX, 128MB EDO memory, GeForce2 MX(200).

Box full of goodies arrived, 2,4 and 2,8 P4's in all FSB's to use as benchmarks in my upcoming S478 P4 chipset test.

2 PCI GPU's, especially the TNT2 M64 should be great on a fast late S7 PCI-only platform.

There's also a creative Ti4800SE which is currently being tested. the other card is a medion 9800XXL, which should be in between the 9800 and the 9800 Pro. Happy with the aftermarket cooler on that one. Talking about coolers; I like the crazy coolers the seller had, so I took those as well. Not sure whether I'll use the dual fan aerocool, but cool has its price:).

That's a nice load of parts. I think I see a aerocool turbine socket A cooler. I had one of those back in the day and it did a great job with my Athlon XP 1800+

Of course, HP Storage Works Ultrium 448 refused to backup at home, saying media is write protected, even when set to no protected.
Spent some time to find that there is a small switch that indicates protect/non protect mode, and it was broken to always OFF state (write protect mode on).
As Stalin says, no switch, no problem, just shorted it and yes, full backup in "just" 10 minutes, 6.3MB/s average speed.
