Hoping this has not stalled. 🙁 on a side note, my SC55 up and died, so now I have zero midi and am reluctant to buy another old unit in case it goes the same way. This project looked to possible offer multi device 'emulation' (Hey, MUNT sounds great and that is definitely software emulation of the physical device). At this point even it it were just a box with decent display, and worked I would be thankful.

Did you check the power adapter to make sure it is working?

What about taking the cover off the SC-55 to see if you can see anything obvious provided the power supply is working?

Could even be something as simple as the power plug solder connection cracking.

Fantastic news.

I have seen a PI MT32 project that accepts DIN mini in, and uses the bootable slim OS Raspberry PI image (MUNT baked in!), with a HAT for user interface and to allow selection of Soundfont.
This sadly is an ongoing project and no guarantee of when even preorders for the unit can be expected.
It does look great (really!), but no other projects seem to be near completion aside from the Mister PI MT32 project. (again, uses a Raspberry PI and the same bootable image).
It is specifically geared towards a Mister, which is great if you have one, not so great if you are looking to put this alongside a real Dos PC with SBlaster card output to DIN in Midi unit.

Patience is a virtue, and the only thing from making me (ultimately regret) buying another 20+ year old Midi unit.

Creating a Raspbian install that auto launches Munt and directs USB MIDI to Munt and Munt output to Audio out (or USB DAC) is pretty simple. All you need then is a functional (not a ceapo chinese one) USB MIDI interface. I know you can get the MIDI In via the GPIO headers as well but this setup works for me quite well. I look forward to buying an MP-32 from Serge as soon as this is available though 😀

Is this in any way related to https://github.com/dwhinham/mt32-pi or will it be compatible with that software?
Hardware for that project is also here: https://www.arananet.net/pedidos/product/pi-m … ry-pi-preorder/ - but currently out of stock with no current estimate when it will be sold again, but Edu Arana did tell me that he's planning to sell it again sometime.

I look forward to seeing this project ready to ship, l am ready to buy one; it should have a proper commercial grade enclosure, not loose PCBs.

yes i want to make it a great enclosure
it will take time, it is on hold due to other projects taking priority

At this point, I would take a generic or even NO enclosure in order to get the thing up and running and in our hands, with the option to then put it in a customised enclosure when the final design has been completed.
The case could be an upgrade to the device.

Is that used with the MiSTer with a standard USB-C to USB-A cable, or is the port for power or something else?

USB-C is for using a power adapter :
there are 2 power options :
DC barrel jack or USB-C
both option power the board and the pi, so the mp32 only needs 1 power input. (either the usb c adapter of your pi, or a dc barrel adapter)

it will take more time to perfect the MP32 case
meanwhile i also made an MP32-LITE, which has hat formfactor
maybe that makes sense too? (if there is any interest, will make a separate thread for it, it looks different than MP32, but same principle of course)

I'm currently building an mt32-pi-midi-hat for myself as a fun soldering project and I'd be more than happy to hear about this, or buy a kit if you have one you want to sell for testing etc.

ok i create a different thread for this MP32L -> MP32-Lite
This will be ready faster than the full blown MP32
