Nice, I was tempted by that one but with shipping to Aus it was just outside the impulse buy range. I thought it would make a neat pairing with my boxed Cardinal sound card:

Help configuring (and dumping) wavetable ROM - Cardinal DSP16 / MPC700plus

Glad it's gone to someone who will document and archive it properly.

Bought this Asus P4C800-E (Deluxe) socket 478 motherboard, which came with 3GhZ CPU, 2 x 1 GB RAM Kingston and Thermaltake Silent tower. For 5 EUR extra the seller addded this PC case. Sadly the front cover of the case is broken. This is the heaviest case I ever got.

I am actually on the lookout for a keyboard that feels good, uses PS/2, and is black.

Probably too expensive, but I got myself this little beauty as a PS2 investment for the future.
One of the last mech keyboards that still has PS2 and is otherwise satisfying to use (MX brown for me):
https://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Key … B004VKUSG6?th=1
https://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard/uk-filco- … on-keyboard.asp
Granted, I am still using the Majestouch-1 model, but I assume model 2 hasnt changed any aspect of it to the worse.
https://deskthority.net/wiki/Filco_Majestouch

Only problem is that the printing on the original caps (in particular the mostly used letters, do get quite worn off/unreadable after a few (5ish) years of heavy use.
So I went and ordered the double shot key caps set :
https://www.keyboardco.com/product/double-sho … y-uk-keyset.asp

Or... you could just buy a 'Ninja' from the get go... 😅
https://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard/uk-filco- … on-keyboard.asp

- Now, I am not saying these are the best mech keyboards available in general, and are probably overpriced for what you get.
BUT.... if you need PS2-compatability, this is one of the very very few.

You also have the Unicomp (PS2) models, which are cheaper, but none(?) are entirely black:
https://www.pckeyboard.com/page/product/UB40416
https://www.pckeyboard.com/page/product/NEW_M
(last one has PS2 option for $3 extra)

Thanks for the options.

Nice! I used to have a case just like this back in the day, it was incredibly heavy as well. Mine had an ASUS P4G8X in it. I later upgraded it to a P4C800-ED that I put in an Antec Sonata because I wanted a smaller and ligher case!

I don't know why I love these HGC adapters so much, if I see them on sale I just have to buy them! Same with monochrome monitors.

HGC was the way I first experienced a PC and it was a huge letdown coming from an Amiga.. That said, I really miss it, and I wish I had a 286 with a HGC. Hell, I'd be OK with sticking one into my 386SX system. Not that I have a monitor that would work with it, I don't think.

Getting it for free still counts if I used Criagslist, right?

some kind soul was moving and instead of tossing it away, they put it up on craigslist. A TRS Model 3 - 48k 'micro'computer .

i'm probably going to do a smoke test tomorrow during a live stream. i already have a care package en-route from Mouser that includes new Rifa caps.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

It's getting harder to find compatible monitors especially with the amber display and I'd give a lot for a green screen monitor with DB9 input!

Just received this ExpertColor MED 3201. I know, it is less usable than a GUS PnP because the lack of RAM, but I think it is rarer. 😀

Bought this Ultra-SCSI RAID interface because nobody else wanted it and the seller gave me a 50% discount. Not really retro but I like full-size server cards. Might be fun later.

Awaiting a ZIP 750 USB drive. I did not particularly want it and I obviously don't need it, but as I have about every other ZIP-version, I felt wrong to pass on this for 15 EUR inclusive. I was not even aware they did 750MB drives until recently.

Mundane as it may be, you certainly don't find complete in box modems every day.

Reminds me of my external Supra FaxModem 28.8Kbps.. I ran a BBS on it for years.

Oh man it's been forever since I've seen one of those boxes. We had one of those modems when I was a kid. My dad needed it for work so he could send and receive faxes from his office.

This one is actually the only boxed modem I've ever seen, I genuinely didn't know how modems were packaged until I found this. What a weird box shape, way bigger than it needs to be!
