A friend's employer decided to get rid of the junk and old spare parts stored in the attic and let me splurge a little.
The place hasn't been cleaned in 50 years and everything was covered in dust.
There is also a big box of generic S3 Trios and interface cards, a few typewriters and empty PC cases but nothing really interesting.
It was a good run.

Nice ! The PSU, WD controller and SMC Arcnet are useful ! I have a generic Large HD/Y2K bios in a similar SMC and it works fine in a 386.

Friend was cleaning his storage out and swapped me 3 working AGP cards for a DVI-I to VGA dongle this morning. A PixelView FX5900 128Mb and two PNY 6200 128Mb.

In the set of three network cards, the one on the right is almost certainly an IBM token ring interface, it has the characteristic IBM 'solid logic' chip and what is most likely an IBM part number.

Craigslist Free section today; a Silverstone FT02. It needs a major cleanup, and I'll have to buy some bay covers, but still I cannot complain. This thing is one beast of a computer case.

I was looking for the IBM 5170 this PSU was from but couldn't find it. It would've been awesome but I'm not complaining. They sold those computers sometime in the 90's and forgot about the spare parts.

Yesterday's Craigslist free score was a Memorex external DVD. No power adapter, but that's fine, what I wanted was the IDE DVD itself. In the process of cleaning out his storage room behind a classroom I came across this Dell Optiplex XM575 sitting on a counter buried behind a bunch of other items (the guy was a hoarder). Nothing of real interest was installed on it other than DOS 6.22 and some really old version of CardioComp to run with the installed CardioComp interface card. Has a Pentium 75MHz under the hood, WD Caviar 2GB and I think 16MB or 32MB of RAM.

That really is in fantastic condition.

Add a sound card/CD-ROM drive and it would make a fantastic windows 3.1 multimedia machine!

I recently rummaged through PCI video cards, and found this:
ASUS 3DP-V264GT2 / TV
It has 4MB of RAM, although 1MB was taken out to test it on another VGA.
I had put it aside because it had malfunction, but maybe it could be the polarized capacitors (tantalum), as soon as I can I will see what state they are in, and in case I will replace them with new ones.
I would like to recover it, after all it is not the usual card model that was found in PCs of the time.

It has S-Video out, that makes it a not bad card for a cheap DOS video capture setup.

I've got these SBC-s from my workplace, my colleges upgraded some of their equipment used for the automation of some production lines.

In total I've got:
6 pcs of Advantech PCA-6753 REV .A2 SBC-s with soldered Geode GX1-233B-85-1.8 CPUs and 64 MB of SDRAM
2 pcs of Advantech PCA-6145B /45L REV C1&C2 SBC-s with Intel 486DX4 @100 MHz SK096 CPUs, 32 MB of RAM and 48 MB DiskOnChip modules
2 pcs of AValue Technology ECM-945GSE-18 SBC-s with Intel Atom N270 @1.6 GHz and 1 GB of DDR2 RAM

I've tested all the Advantech boards and they are working fine. The 486 boards are running Win95 installed on the DiskOnChip modules and the Geode based SBC-s are running Win98, some from DOM modules and some from 2,5" HDDs.

Here is a closer pic of the Geode based SBC, and here is a post with the 486 based SBC, also from the same source...

I've got two of these units fully equipped with enclosure, power source(24V input 🙁), LCD panel with touchscreen, SBC, HDD, FDD, etc.

Basically I've got 10 working units but for 8 of then I don't have the solid metal enclosure.
Really nice haul, I really don't know at the moment what I'm gonna do with all of these... Maybe the newer Atom based SBC-s would be a base for a local file/media server... I'll see...

Those are super nice. Beats the crap out of the "Pentium 4 Dell computers in plastic-y cases with broken hard drives" that have been coming my way this month.

Yep, those are cool. My cases of choice for older builds are 4U rackmount chassis. Way more room than a lame mini-tower so you can actually get to everything without having to remove a motherboard tray to change jumper settings.

Plus no razor sharp metal to cut you like cases of yor have.

Some nice finds today:
1. Two calculators ELKA 101 made in Bulgaria by ISOT, the model is from 1973. Both are working and have external AC/DC adapters to save batteries.
2. Two keyboards NTC KB-6251 in not so bad condition and working.

I have selected various ISA cards for the motherboard with 386DX-40 (see photo), a 128MB SanDisk IDE-CF and CompactFlash adapter, a 16bit ISA controller with Acer M5105 chip and parallel and game serial ports, as sound card I have to choose one between AZTECH and Creativa SB16 Value (CT2770), as video card I will use an Octek with WD90C30-LR chip (Paradise), LAN card I would use a 3Com Etherlink III but I don't know if it works with old operating systems like windows3.X.

I'd almost guarantee that the 3Com nic will work with Did/windows 3.1/3.11

Of course I could use WFW3.11 which should be suitable for the purpose.
Unfortunately it is the only one with RJ connector that I have available, the others have only RG connectors (see photo), even if they are prepared for addition.
But I don't know if adding the RJ connector is possible, finding and soldering the missing components.

The 3com card you have the picture of had a RJ45 ,AUI, and BNC connector. It's ready to go for a standard Ethernet setup.
