Hi All,

I got myself a small 14" 4:3 monitor (native res is supposed to be 1024x768) to use for retro gaming.

I am trying a distribution called DOSBIAN, which basically boots straight into DOSBox, either SVN or ECE.

I set raspi-config to 1024x768, and wheb I boot up the OS itswlf fill the whole screen, and fbset tellsme I am as desired, in 1024x768.

When I run dosbox however, the output spans the scren horizontally but there are black bars at the top.
I have tried playing around with the conf settings with no luck (and if I even specify 1o24x768 as the full resolution and enable fullscreen, I get an even smaller centerd window as if dosbox ssitcjed to 108p and set my window in the center)

Anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

What is your goal?
It sounds like you want the game to fit a 1024x768 res the same as your desktop? That's not going to happen.

Yes, that is exactly what I want. Why would it not happen with correct stretching and aspect ratio maintenance? (Also, in this case there is no "desktop").

Pretty much what happens on this vid at the very beginning snd near the end, filling up that 4:3 monitor:

Well, some screenmodes are not 4:3 with square pixels.

This is a PC monitor correct? It should store corrections for different screen modes, so if you let it be the mode it wants, then you can go into the menu of the monitor and adjust the size and placement, and it will save it for that mode.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Most DOS Games are 320x200 or 640x480.

There is no way to get them to 1024x768 without causing scrambled pixel mess or having to live with a super blurry picture.

Your options are 960x600 and 640x480 with black bars for 320x200 and 640x480 games/programmes respectively.

I´m willing to believe that, but I would like to see for myself the blurriness or "stetchedoutness", none of which seems to show on the YT link I posted above.

Granted several games there show similar to what I see (although most at least fill the vertical), but at least Lemmings at the beginning and another at the end, are filling the screen and look good.

If you're running it without an X server it won't be able to use the OpenGL output mode, which is required to scale the output to arbitrary sizes (like fixed 1024x768).

So is that something that can be just running and it works etc? Or do you have to actually boot into that fist and then launch dosbox?
