Hi all im looking for a way to run windows 2.0 on my 286 that does not have a harddrive.
i read somewhere that you can run it without a hd and run straight of a floppy disk
does anyone know what ver this is? thanks
It’s best to install to a hard drive then copy windows over to a floppy
1.44mb is best
My retail copy of Windows 2.03 could do this! However, not sure anyomore if I used a 720KB disk or an 1.44MB disk. Sorry! 🙁

Thanks for reply i will try installing onto a 1.44mb disk and see if i can boot it on my 286 im just bored and waiting for my new hd

Windows 1 could install to a dual 360kb setup (and you needed both disks and drives unless you enjoy floppy swapping a lot)
Windows 2 I don’t remember how large of floppy disk drive you needed to run off floppy (didn’t remember it was still a thing for 2 either)
