This folder tends to grow up quite a bit. Is it safe to delete its contents?

Interesting question, I would be interested as well.
And another one: Is it possible to deactivate or deinstall the Installshield Update Manager? It keeps up bothering once in a while.
Nasty Installshield 😀 I used to use their tools - horrid things! Now they're owned by Macrovision I've even less desire to go back to their tools!
This is Installshield's version of the install cache. I'm sure there are automatic methods around but if you look through the sub-folders you'll find a setup.ini file. Within it'll say what product it's for and you'll find quite a few from days gone by. Me I've deleted a load and have seen no issues with doing so. I can't for certain say I've ever re-installed those items that the data referred to however!
As for your query Wintermute -> http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q111006
My experience has been that if data in this folder is deleted, it becomes impossible to uninstall the associated program, except through brute force. If you don't mind this, go right ahead; it doesn't seem to affect the function of the software.

Thanks a lot!
Gone With the Wind.... 😁
Thanks. Better to use the inf snoop method. Otherwise, you may end up with some leftovers from bad uninstalled apps.

I would strongly recommend against removing anything in this directory. It makes uninstallation or reinstallation of programs loaded using InstallShield next to impossible.
Yes, it’s my fault.
Good thing I made a backup copy before.
In the setup.ini file look for APPNAME= entry.

Get a bigger hard drive.
Stop installing crap. Use a VM for that.
ROFL - done and done.... some of us are tidy freaks however 😀
Heh, I love you too. 😁
