What exactly is this hybrid card.... instead of S3 , it has an "Alliance" gpu chip instead.

They used S3 on a majority of cards but not exclusively, they had an ARK2000 and ET4000 card too, then various other in 3D era, but if that's not to your liking, just jump in your time machine and go yell at them.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Middle of the pack GUI/video accelerator card. I think AT24 and A3D (later rebranded as AT25) share identical 2D core. They are somewhat obscure and that's their only defining trait at this point.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

Nothing odd about the card. Diamond Stealth Video 2500 has always had an Alliance ProMotion AT24 chipset with 1MB or 2MB EDO. It's not a hybrid, which would imply it has two different technologies which don't normally work together.
