I think MS Office is FREE on MacOSX.

Nope.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365 … roducts-for-mac

One-off £130 for student/home use of the traditional, installed 'Office' applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint only).
£60/year for personal use of Office 365.
£80/year for family license pack for Office 365.

Obviously costs will vary slightly per geographic region.

Unless you are a member of an academic institution or a registered student on a college/university course that qualifies for MS Imagine/Dreamspark (or whatever they rebrand it to this year), and then you get a free license to use it, as well as a free copy of Windows, Visual Studio etc, for as long as you remain at that institution (either employment or for your studies). There are some restrictions on what titles you can access if you are not in a STEM subject.

It's certainly not free.

Oh, I think it was FREE on the iPad a while back.

I don't think it ever was.

The only Office package included for free with Macs is Apple's own iWorks.

Who even gives a shit about office on an ipad?

"Productive" people.. they feel less useless during their infinite meetings sessions.

Can some one please tell me what year "modern" starts in relation to this thread? Thank you so kindly.

Thank you kindly for you response. Maybe some one, say a mod, need to modify the first post to put some simple, but not stringent, guides lines of what is covered in this thread.

That's is just a suggestion from yours truly

Again thanks for reading this post..

Bought a Canon Pixma TS-3151. And I can once again print. I have named it Probaganda on my Linux laptop when using USB and as it is a network printer, then it is named "Probaganda On The Network" on my Linux machine. I have set network printing as the default. USB are only for backup use, if the router dies.

Actually straight forward to install the printer. I went to Canon's webpage, found DEP packed drivers. Downloaded them and opened the 64bit DEP file with GDebi. Clicked on yes, and the system found whatever was needed on the Internet and installed. From there it was just selecting the printer in printer-setup in the control-center.

And they say Linux is hard?! Hmmm... I don't see the issue.

Bought this today, a 2010 HP Z200 workstation, it has a Xeon X3450 CPU, 4 GB RAM and includes 3 caddy's for HD's. There is a GPU in there but no idea what until it arrives. I was short a machine as a friend needed a PC to replace a dead Toshiba ivybridge i3 all-in-one system(dreadful thing, all laptop parts!) so she has my AMD A6 3670K machine now to replace it. She's well happy as the old A6 is much faster than the Toshiba was.
This should do me fine, it was dirt cheap(less than £50 inc delivery from a seller I trust), and I very much like these HP workstations from this time frame, I still use a HP Proliant ML115 G5 with a AMD Opteron 1354 as my daily driver and that was from 2008.
Bit of a bargain I reckon and might be even better than I hope depending on the graphics card it has installed.

“Bought this today, a 2010 HP Z200 workstation”

I am currently using an HP z220 with i5 CPU and 16gb ram and some large hard drives and Sata SSD as a media server in my home theater. I was using an HP z420 with 8-core Xeon but it kept dying. Went thru two motherboards. I think I know why the motherboard died. Its because this computer only supports 1st gen Xeon and NOT 8-c0re xeons.

So I will have to buy new motherboards for these computers.

But I am building a nice Mac Pro workstation to put in here.

That's what I was thinking this case was for. It's going to look sweet in there once it's all done

I was looking for stuff like good cable management and subtle design without any bling-bling. There is room in the top, to be able to use my ATX-64 that have an angled ATX power plug. And it has extreme air flow for a C64, meaning that the chips will be kept more cold that they require. This means maximum lifespan for them. Also, there are two 3.5 inch drive bays in the front. That allow me to have PI-1541 buttons and have the cartridge connector routed to the front. And the mesh in the front are red on the case that I have bought.

Basically.... It will be one of a kind build that I do. And I keep to the UNI64 mantra, of a modern aproach to the C64 as a platform. Last I checked up with the owner of UNI64, then I am the only one in Denmark that have bought an ATX64 PCB. And if I am still the only one, then it will be an ultra rare machine in Denmark.
