Just tested them, both working perfectly!

Installed an Atlhon XP 2500+ Barton core in the Biostar M7VKQ (it shows unknown CPU in bios / cpu string, but works fine). My only issue with it, is that i can´t disable the onboard video.

In the Asus P5S-B i´ve installed a 500MHZ regular K6-2, working just fine also. Unfortunately it didn´t come with any brackets. The VGA and USB+PS/2 brackets i could salvage from another PcChips motherboard, worked fine!
But the AUDIO unfortunately seems a bit different.

In the manual the ASUS Audio bracket have a small PCB with some components, the bracket from the PcChips does not have any components whatsoever, and the pinout is slight different apparently.
Thats a bummer because i really wanted to test it, because the chipset is an ESS Solo-1 apparently (which is pretty good for dos afaik).

Standard method, that was a side view of the 30 pack, the ten packs are like you are looking at the floppy label. Guess I should have set the boxes the same orientation 😀

Ah weird, thanks, must have been the perspective as it was higher and closer to the camera, no side seemed to match any dimension of the floppy.

Bought two computers in a local recycling/second-hand centre for 8 EUR. I've removed the components from the first and partly from a second computer. The other computer is a Fujitsu Siemens computer (dual-core something), but not particularly interesting. I just don't seem to find anything below P4 systems in the centre anymore. So I take what I can find. For trade in the future at least. The motherboard looks nice for some Windows 98 builds...

It's not any kind of PC hardware, but I somehow managed to snag a Macintosh SE/30 with an Ethernet card off Facebook Marketplace today for 30 dollars. No idea if it works yet, it probably doesn't, but I can't argue with the price.

My Macintosh Color Classic with 16mhz CPU and 8mb ram can still go on the internet and download games. I use Netscape version 3.
And static TCP/IP address.

Hope the battery hasn't corroded away its guts. If not, this is just begging to be expanded to 128MB RAM and running A/UX on it. IMHO by far the best of the compact Macs, particularly if you have Ethernet too.

Don't forget about caps too, they love to go bad on the SE/30, it's the plague of old Macintoshes. (the Classic and Color Classic are also affected to name a few... If it has SMD caps, you can be sure they'll already be leaking all over the board)

Much to my shock and surprise, not only did the battery not explode, the thing WORKS! The yoke on the CRT is misaligned though, but that's an easy fix.

Follow up: Acer Altos 350 Pentium 3 PC Restore/Upgrade

I baught this Acer Pentium 3 PC for £3 and those parts, the motherboards, GPU for £4. As for the Dell PSU was bought for £3. The games i paid around 50p to a £1 each for them. Some were found in Charity Shops 3 for a £1 in the DVD pile. I built quite a collection of PC games by this point. Since i already have a Socket 370 PC i will sell this and the parts on. My plan is to restore this with a couple of upgrades. Plus i see solder points for an ISA Slot, if i solder an ISA port in will i be able to use an ISA card on the motherboards?

What I'm saying is; you should remove the caps and clean the board sooner rather than later - regardless if it works or not - lest you risk eaten traces.
• I probably don't have to tell you, but the lithium-battery is a time bomb.
• You can plop a math-coprocessor in your ethernet-card/PDS-passthrough. For whatever that's worth to you. 😀

Yeah, it definitely still needs a recap, but I was pleasantly surprised that it booted without needing one. My first SE/30 I got back in 2016 wouldn't boot without being recapped first.
