RE the 'eventual' enclosure, as the Din input stands quite high, will the display and buttons be extended upwards to be flush with the top, or will it be something a bit like the C64 ultimate II cartridge where the DIN connector stood proud and above the rest of the cartridge.

Either way, works for me.

Design is totally not ready yet, but expect something like this, with the DIN connector popping out :
(zone for connectors still needs some work)

Will there be sufficient airflow or space for a heatsink to attach to the pi below it?

I only today discovered the existence of SOFTMPU, and a simple Serial connector would also allow MIDI to connect to a PI via a 9pin cable and achieve the same result.
Amazing! (and handy for people who have SB cards without the connector (joystick/midi) to still enjoy Midi.)

also the value need to match the paypal goods payment so in case something goes wrong the amount can be claimed

yeah it sucks...
but know that it could be WAY worse 🤣 - like it is here when you import stuff and couriers can legally ask ~130eur in processing and customs fees on top of 24% VAT which sometimes amounts to more than the item value....

I think VAT still applies though as this is not a gift valued below £39.
That Brexit was a bum deal.

Don't know if this is a revenge of the EU or not, but as I'm a heavy buyer from all around the world (I'm from Belgium, like Serge), I received a message from Bpost, the national post company : on july 1st, no matter the value of the product you buy outside EU, everything will directly go to the customs and you'll have to pay import duties. There was a 22€ limit in Belgium for now, but on july 1st, no more...

This is an EUwide thing, everyone is gonna pay...

As someone who used to regularly buy cd sleeves from. The USA, I got the person posting to declare a value of $10 regardless of actual value (usually around 80 - 100 $ each time.) I was willing to risk it it if goods went missing as I saved a fortune that way.

Worth considering.

Yay! My MP32L arrived and it works like a charm!
I really like the display and ease of mode switching on this thing.
Now a nice case and I'll be a very happy camper.

I am having major issues getting my pi to work with the MT32 software.
I only have a 16gb Micro sd that I have formatted as fat32, and even repartitioned to 4gb and formatted as fat16.
No matter what I do, when I copy the MT32 software over (I also tried ver 0.10.0 that allows a gui when booting!) I get nada on screen or a constant rebooting to the rainbow bootup screen.

I tried a 4gb micro sd card from a different pi I have in the office running lan diagnostics and that boots just fine.
so, before I assume the card is at fault somehow and buy another one, can someone provide a linux SD card image that I can just drop on to the SD card using raspberry pi imager.
My Hat arrived today and I am keen to confirm it works and get it installed at home.

PS, I have the MT32 roms and soundfonts so I am not looking for a Cheat way of getting it all configured, they can be left off any image file that may exits.
